ZO6J - Rebates question

ZO6J,

I went to the GM website tonight and the 2003 rebates are no longer posted. They all expired on 1/2/04. The last update they had showed the Corvette with a $2,750 rebate. Is that still available? What about in the future? I also used the search dealer inventory function and found 20 convertibles still available nearby, 7 of which were 50th Anniversary Pkgs. Interesting and tempting. Also two coupes available with 1SB pkg. for only $38,000. If only the wife would let me buy the GTO and the 'vette. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What happens is yes all rebates go away at the end of the year on previous year models. So the dealer gets that money back but it is much less than the rebate was on that vehicle. Obviously if a dealer has a 2003 still in stock they will definitely want to get rid of it. Just remember that when you do buy a 2003 when you drive off the lot it is now a one year old vehicle regardless of when you bought it. Just keep those things in mind if you are real serious about a 2003 Vette but man I would definitely wait for the GTO if I were you. The quality of the vehicle is so much better than the C5 and I own a C5.

Thanks,

Jason Feuerberg

I don't think anyone can rate the GTO's quality today. One year from now is when we will really know how good the GTO's quality is.......then we'll see if any problems pop up. I still have some concerns about the rumors that the cars were delayed because GM had to fix things on them. Time will tell.

I went to the dealership to check out the 2004 C5 vettes and I've got to admit, I was a little dissapointed. The interior is not at all what I thought it would be. I found myself staring at the top of the windshield frame no matter where I moved the seat. Interior materials were rough as was fit and finish. I'm still getting the GTO no matter what, but I may switch to a C6 after awhile. We can always drive the Tahoe when we need to seat 4 or more.

OK, now this is getting serious. GM just announced $2,000 cash back on ALL new Corvettes AND 0% financing for 60 months. Geez louis! So now I'm looking at $36,000 for a stripper (1SA pkg.) and 0%. Payments would be only $600 month for a 'vette!? Gotta be kidding me! This compares to the GTO with 4.5% for 60 months = $550.

Yeah it is a good deal if you look at it from that point of view. But do you want to have a Vette that is going to deprediate like a rock now that the new C6 is coming out or do you want a GTO that will hold its value better than the Vette. Also I bet if you check around you probably could get a better interest rate.

GTO hold its value better than a Corvette?

The last car I can think of like the GTO was the old Impala SS of 1994-1996, what was the depreciation on those like when they were new? Now the cherry examples are valuable, the rest not so much.

I have a feeling if the GTO gets some favorable changes for 2005, and again in 2006, the 2004s will probably plummet. Much like the 1984 and 1985 turbo Buicks.

Haha..I bought an 02 Camaro in 1/03 when there was only $15,000 in dealer cash. I paid $24,000 for the car and was nearly $10,000 upside down in 6 months...

I dont think V6 Camaros ever held their value.

Yeah that sucks Branden. With all the rebates and incentives on domestic vehicles the value of them drops really fast. That is why I know the GTO will hold its value better than any F-Body.

Unless it bombs sales wise...
