How many cars does Holden build at the GTO Plantformula79 01-22-2004, 05:48 PM I was wondering how many they make on the GTO's line...I heard it's likw 20 different models and 200,000+ units.... Decromin 01-22-2004, 06:10 PM According to this bit on the Holden site, there are about 150,000 units built per year from the Elizabeth plant : http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/jsp/co...panyprofile.jsp (http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/jsp/corporateinfo/companyprofile/companyprofile.jsp) If I remember correctly, there are two (or three) production lines that operate at Elizabeth - one for the sedan/wagon range, and one for the ute and coupe. I know they used to assemble the Opel Vectra there for a while, and I'm not sure what's happened to that line at the plant ... As far as differing body styles go, there are: SWB Sedan SWB Coupe LWB Sedan LWB Wagon LWB 2dr Utility LWB 4dr Utility LWB AWD Wagon LWB AWD 4dr Utility and of these, I think there are nearly 40 model variants in both LHD and RHD (except the AWD models, these are RHD only at the moment). scottknight 01-22-2004, 09:23 PM I call that one very flexible and versatile platform :afro: Odin 01-22-2004, 11:05 PM I must of gotten the figures mixed up :(, but it has been said, for Holden to recoup its billion dollar investment in the VE commodore it has to produce 200,000 vehicles at its plant a year, to break even on the return. Hence my statement that they want to ramp it up to that figure. monaroCountry 01-23-2004, 12:11 AM They do want ramp up their figures to around 200K plus. Actual production now is around 175-185K. The reason why holden wants 200K is because this would allow them to better expand OS and be a niche player. | |
