Hello all,
At Summit we have a sort of mini-SEMA show every January for the manufacturers to come set up and show thier new products and answer our questions...listen to us bitch about thier catalogs ect.

Naturally I pinned thier ears back about tooling up for stuff for the new GTO and most of them pretended to be interested but a couple of them were actually enthusiastic and one has solid plans to make things for it. The company is Stainless Works. To those not familiar with this company, they're a fairly young and innovative, performance minded company that got thier start making custom bent stainless exhaust for the streetrod market. They now make lots of late model stuff including headers and Y-pipes for Corvette and the late F body LS1 powered cars. I spoke with on of thier engineers and they're buying a new GTO for a developement mule. They're planning headers, cat-back style dual exhaust with the pipes ending on BOTH sides in the back. The tentative plan is for Firebird style tips that split and exit pointing downward behind each tire with an engraved stainless filler panel to cover the existing cutout in the bumper bottom. They're also talking about some stainless subframe connectors and strut tower braces.

I got a chance to talk to the guys from the company that makes our Summit brand reusable filters and he said they'd certainly look into making them if our marketing geniuses decide there's a demand for them. Start calling and sending emails demanding the stuff and they'll eventually listen. It's all based on consumer demand guys.....the squeaky wheels get the grease. By the way, these filters are really very nicely made so don't be afaid to use them (to me they look better than brand "K").

I got a chance to talk to the rep from Centerline Wheels and he said listened intently as I lobbied him about making wheels with the correct backspacing, boltpattern and yes Murray...centerhole diameter. I mentioned projected sales volumes and production capability numbers from down under and while he didn't make any promises, he took notes on his personal palm thingy and thanked me. They aren't making the LEXI line in 17" anymore so that's out... :( He also gave me a Centerline logo pocketknife. I'm the only guy that got one, so take that as a sign that he's taking me seriously...(maybe he's thinking of making himself look good for his boss with all the stuff I was feeding him).

Now THIS is the kind of support we need from a supplier. I always knew there was a reason I liked Summit best. :D Thanks for the update.
