I hate them too. But in California, front plates are required. I took it off once but it left 3 ugly holes in the bumper.

I love your GTO. It is sweet in black.

Front plates are required in NY too.
My dealer here in NY told me they did not want to drill holes in my bumper to put the plate bracket in the front. He said if I really wanted it I could come back and have them install it.
He also said of all the GTO's they sold, none have come back to install the front plate bracket.
I know this is crazy but I guess I will leave mine off as long as possible...

The rebel in you is showing.

Arizona only has to show the rear plate and some people seem to think that's an option too.... :D

Its required in NY as well. My dealership wouldn't drill either, so they attached it with black plastic ties. :)

Kinda required in MA. The "green" plates have only 1 but they haven't offered them in years. The red, white and blue is 2.

This confused me, I saw an new mini driving the other day and it had euto plates on the back with a US plate on the front. California is screwed up.

Service Members returning from Overseas are allowed to use the European plates for a good while. We also know that the CA DMV takes forever on certain issues. If you are sure that the front plate was a current CA license plate then the Mini driver was definatly in the wrong.

in MA they give you 30 days, but you see a TON of FL plates because people have summer homes up here.

I live in TX too and unfortunatly the dealership I bought the Goat from had already installed the front license plate holder. It's ugly as sin but I guess I'm stuck with it now. :(
