TriShield 03-26-2004, 09:05 PM For those wanting to change the look of their new Goats, there are two options.
The Holden Special Vehicles body kit which would have to be imported from Australia, or the Pontiac Autocross body kit which is apparently going to be offered by Pontiac dealers this fall.
Which would you choose?

I am leaning towards the Autocross... I like the appearence effects on it better...
TandA 03-27-2004, 03:26 PM The HSV. That is an amazing looking car. The GTO should have looked like that!
kjac081 04-16-2004, 05:37 AM Hi there, im new here(been a lurker for a while). if the Autocross body kit becomes available from the dealer, do you think that it can be installed on an 04, or just 05. I ask because i see that kit has a rear skirt made for exhaust on each side, and we all know that wont work on an 04. Are they going to be going to exhaust on both sides for 05, thus making the kit only for 05? any speculation on what they may charge for this it, or if its a dealer installed kit, or factory ordered?
With my Acura, the factory body kit is a dealer installed option, and the parts come pre-painted so its guaranteed paintmatch. I was thinknig of waiting for the year end and try and get a left over 04. Myself and local dealer speculate that if sales dont improve drasticly, that there will be good rebates available when the 05's come out. If this kit is only available on 05's i may have to hold off for that.
sorry for the long post, Kevin :type:
Mike D 04-16-2004, 11:38 AM Autocross for me. Actually sat in that car at SEMA 03' where those pictures are taken. It looked Great! :dribble:
jbernie 04-24-2004, 06:15 PM Based on availability, the Autocross is much preferred to the stock GTO, if the HSV kits were available then they would have a hot date with my gto (if i had one :))...
I would love the quad exhaust on the HSV kit. I would be very happy then :).
I have 4 Monaro varaint 1:18th cars, Coupe concent, HSV GTO, HSV GTS and Pontiac GTO, i will take the HSV's any day, the HSV's look very aerodynamic.
James
rk_GTO_68 05-04-2004, 08:21 AM I like the HSV rear spoiler better but everything else I prefer the Autocross.

It'd work fine for an '04. Just get an exhaust shop to re-route the passenger side exhaust so that it actually comes out on the passenger's side in the rear. Any exhaust shop can do that with no problem.
Bad Mojo TC 05-05-2004, 12:16 PM I personally like the HSV kit myself. A little more subtle than the Pontiac kit but very aggressive looking. Both look sweet though!
zigor2 09-06-2004, 06:45 PM I like the HSV's. HSV's look very aerodynamic & will be rare on the road + I have plans for supercharge!!. HSV's look was one of the reasons why I did not wait for 2005 GTO.
CSiJason 09-06-2004, 08:09 PM I like many aspects of the HSV kit but i'll probably try and pick up the Autocross kit and swap the HSV rear wing on it for the sleeker look.
woodnut 09-07-2004, 01:21 PM When I got my GTO two weeks ago, the dealer had a black goat in the body shop installing a hood with scoops and a new spoiler. The spoiler looked a lot like the late model camero spoilers much like the spoiler on the HSV model. To be honest in my opinion, the stock spoiler looks so much better. The hood was nice, but the spoiler sucked. I was told it was a $1500 option, but the hood alone was $1100. I tried to find out who made the parts for pontiac and they thought it was hsv...I think that is what I heard, the guy was walking away while he was talking. The only thing I like about the HSV car is the GTO in white which could be incorporated into the Autocross kit. The HSV really looks like a cavalier with a camero rear end. Just my two cents. What do you all think of the SLP hood? I personally like the higher placed scoops, but what are your thoughts? For the person who said "RAM AIR" acted like a supercharger...well I am sorry, but I think they are mistaken. I know that was in another section, but the purpose was to get a mass amount of fresh air into the intake, the filters only allow so much flow as it is...so it does not supercharge the engine, nor does it provide 25 hp. Anyways....have you all seen anything about the above hood or spoiler at your local dealers...I would like to know who made them. Thanks so much.
CSiJason 09-07-2004, 06:21 PM The hood is not a true "Ram Air" and I doubt the Pontiac dealer is selling HSV parts. Becides the fact it wouldnt cost even half that much.
I still wonder if the "Autocross" kit will be available in pieces and/or for other colors becides red/black/silver? Personaly I would like the front and side skirts only and then swap the rear wing out for the HSV wing which is much more sleak than stock.
Nocturn 09-07-2004, 10:34 PM A pic of a nice red HSV, or a black AutoCoss might be a better comparison as black tends to hide angles and lines of cars.
zigor2 09-09-2004, 05:36 PM Silver
zigor2 09-09-2004, 05:37 PM Blue # 1
zigor2 09-09-2004, 05:38 PM Blue # 2
zigor2 09-09-2004, 05:39 PM Blue # 3
zigor2 09-09-2004, 05:41 PM Yellow but it is HSV-GTS not GTO
CSiJason 09-09-2004, 06:01 PM I really like the HSV wing better than the aftermarket version similar to it. Anyone know where to get the real ones and how much? I dig the side skirts too... Hmm...
On that note, I read on another board that the front grill inserts are available seperatly for about $250 per set. Not a bad alternative to the more expensive full aero kit.
Edit: Attached photoshopped image of IBM Blue GTO with the grill inserts.
Sting2114 09-15-2004, 11:11 AM This might be a stupid question to some, but I'm going to ask it anyway:
What are the weight gains/losses as a result of adding either one of these body kits?
Oh, here's another question: anyone know where you can buy a carbon fiber hood for the GTO?

The PFYC Banshee hood is offered in Carbon Fiber
PFYC GTO Hood (http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PFYC&Product_Code=GT1234&Product_Count=0&Category_Code=GTEXT)
Sting2114 09-16-2004, 09:42 AM Thanks for the info. The only prob is I don't like the design/looks of it. Oh well, I'm sure we'll see more carbon fiber hoods added in the future. The reason I was asking is this: the current GTO has a weight balance of 55/45. I've been trying to come up with ways to make it more balanced. I think the most obvious, first thing that could be done is throw a carbon fiber made hood on the front. Beyond that, I'm still trying to come up with good answers.

Ya know, you could just add weight to the back, but that sorta counteracts the "lighten the car" effect your after.
Depending on the weight of the stock hood, a carbon or even fiberglass hood can save a good bit of weight up front. Light weight wheels are another way to really improve overall performance since unsprung weight is critical. (As is rotating mass such as wheels and tires.) Relocating the battery to the rear would move some of that weight around, but its not an easy task and I do believe most drag strips would require a kill switch in the trunk to race if your battery is back there. Though it doesnt lighten the car any, it would shift the weight ratio towards the 50/50 mark.
TheJizzer 09-23-2004, 07:33 PM I like the 04 GOAT the best.
If I wanted all the PLASTIC I would have bought a Trans Am -- the thing I like most about the GTO is the lack of PLASTICY bolt on **** on the front, rear and sides!
I admit the hood could be Ram air.
impulsivegoat 09-23-2004, 09:59 PM i'm confused...so the autocross kit everyone speaks of...will these be available to put on a 2004 GTO?? ..I really like the autocross look and would like to put that on my ride
Goat Lover 09-24-2004, 06:20 PM The autocross is available for the 05. I think one could put it on an 04 if they wanted to but i dont know.

Oh..I thought it was an option for '04....that's why I was waiting to see what the '05 kit looked like. Well if the '05 Auto-X looks like that....I like the stock '05 rear better.
Now a Black/Black M6 '05 with Auto-X front, '05 hood, Auto-X spoiler, HSV wheels, and a Magnacharger would be my Dream Goat! :afro: Anyone wanna 'Chop it...to compare the 2..or as a combination of the 2?

What do you think the front rear and sides are made of on the 04 GTO? Steel??
Foster'sguy 12-10-2004, 03:46 PM I prefer the HSV rear wing over the stock or autocross versions, although AP has a decent looking one on sale this month.
ScreaminGTO 12-10-2004, 11:18 PM I'd have to say the HSV Rear, with the autocross front :)
REDGLOW360 12-13-2004, 04:43 PM If anyone wants to know the xcross will fit the 04, most of the pieces from it are going to be added into a retro kit for the 04. Or thats at least what they're calling it at least. There is also the 05 sport appearance package that has basically the same front and rear and also fits the 04. I just ordered it for my car. :type:
ScreaminGTO 12-14-2004, 10:14 AM Any idea when they will be out?
REDGLOW360 12-14-2004, 12:12 PM Yeah check out my last couple of posts on the NAGTO drives and reviews 05.
I dont remember off the top of my head but I think it was mid january and late january, it should all be available through any dealership.
AnthonyHSV 12-14-2004, 07:58 PM HSV all the way...
Interior of the HSV's are also a step on the Monaro....(Monaro is a step up from GTO)

Are the tail lights on "Blue #2" available on the HSV? If they are, I want some. Other than that, I'd prefer the Autocross package. Are the autocross parts for show & then modified by GM to become the Sport Appearance Package for the '05s? Or will the Autocross parts & the Sprt Appearance parts going to be different from each other?
AnthonyHSV 12-19-2004, 04:31 PM The black tail lights are HSV only...unless you go for the aftermarket jobs
