: First pic of the SLP GTO!

Thoughts? I think the scoops are nice, they are very subtle and go with the lines pretty good I think. I'd like to see that hood with the Autocross body kit and grills, I think it would look great! The hood adds to the stealthy character of the car B) Wish we knew more about it though besides that, but hey its better than nothing! :)
Me likey the wheels and the hood. I wonder when they will be out for purchase. I still want to see Arrowhead Performances final product.
Orbit Orange 04-07-2004, 04:44 PM I like the wheels.
The lower body kit is good except for the corny 3 horizontal slots behind the front wheel.
Can't comment on the spoiler from that angle.
As hood scoops go I like it the best that I've seen yet. After seeing all the different scoops so far I am still under the impression that I like the new GTO sans hoodscoops. They are very 71/72 GTO and also remind me quite a bit of the GA SC/T hood scoops which I happen also to dislike.
Those are just my opinion and just first impressions. More pics at different angles would be of more help to me to form a more final decision.
Nocturn 04-07-2004, 04:55 PM Ugh, *runs away* The scoops are as bland as you can get in terms of scoops go. I think I will still keep myne scoopless. The wheels are alright, and the rest is just kinda...blah.
I wouldnt get anywhere near this for the money they are going to charge though. Say hello to Cobra prices.
chadbarb99 04-07-2004, 08:19 PM Seems like no matter what they do, people still bitch about this car. If it went out of production tomorrow people would bitch about that.
stevewallace 04-07-2004, 08:55 PM Where did the pic go? It's not on GMInsidenews or here!!
dkGTO19 04-07-2004, 09:54 PM I went back to look at the car again, and the link doesn't work anymore. It was removed, I wonder why?
cjlannoy 04-07-2004, 10:14 PM it seems that none of the picture links are working anymore. here or gminsidenews.
stevewallace 04-07-2004, 10:34 PM Anyone got it in your cache?
atheist19 04-07-2004, 11:44 PM AAH sum1 help, I MUST SEE IT
TriShield 04-08-2004, 12:30 AM The picture is of the latest SEMA publication cover, and it's a photoshop of a different hood and Holden HSV Coupe GTO style 18" wheels on the GTO.
atheist19 04-08-2004, 12:49 AM URL plz :zap:
schutzhund 04-08-2004, 06:22 PM Saw the picture befor it vanished. I find it hard to believe that what's depicted in the picture would be SLP's re-working of the GTO. I have to believe that this is NOT the eventual SLP GTO.
Firehawk295 04-08-2004, 07:42 PM Sorry folks. I took the picture down because I forgot to ask for permission to post it when I got it.
Its back up on my site now. Its for real, even though the image is a photoshop rendering. The gif is the cover of the April Sema News.

goatliath 04-08-2004, 08:34 PM I think it's ok, but got to get rid of that **** front fascia!!! :zap:
Orbit Orange 04-09-2004, 12:14 AM Anyone see the resemblance between those wheels and the Olds style Rallye wheels of the late 60's and 70's?
I like them but Olds Cutlass 442 keeps popping into my head.
geekoid 04-09-2004, 02:17 AM Not bad. The scoops are rather subtle, and that may or may not be a good thing, depending on your point of view. It is interesting that the wheels and the slots behind the front wheel are very similar to the HSV GTO. (Good eyes, TriShield)
I wonder how this will compare to the '05, given the few details that are starting to leak out? The '05 will be getting hood scoops and maybe some minor design changes as well. If the '05 ends up looking as good or better, will anyone care? SLP's powertrain modifications may be enticing, but the price may be high to get them. Especially if the '05 gets a 400hp V8 (LS2/LS6) standard. Alot of questions that I wish I knew the answers too.
TandA 04-09-2004, 08:07 AM Looks good. Wheels look 100% better, and the hood looks great.
redgtosamurai 04-10-2004, 12:01 AM My Pontiac God will do a better hood than that not to mention a full body kit and spoiler. He's in the final stages of design and I'll have my ride shortly (shipped from down under on March 25th) for him to take the measurements. B)
jbernie 04-15-2004, 01:53 AM Another thing of interest, and maybe it will be different from a different angle, but the rear spoiler is looking like a direct copy of what was on the HSV HRT 427 concept.
Also, the hood scoops make it look like a Pontiac Aztec :pain:
My preference is to see the hood scoops, if you have to have them, sit further back, the cluster of inlets right at the nose of the vehicle in my opinion makes the car look ugly (sorry TandA), it creates too much of a visual distraction and takes away from the rest of the car.

sandstorm 04-29-2004, 11:29 AM I honestly thought what GM had going with the Autocross GTO concept was a good idea. Are they for sure still going to have these parts available as a dealer installed option at some point?
Here's a link if someone hasn't seen it: http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/feat...n_gtoautocross/ (http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/features/0405pon_gtoautocross/)

holeshot 05-15-2004, 08:23 PM Those are sweet lookin :P
Orbit Orange 05-15-2004, 11:30 PM I like them too.
That shape reminds me of the Pontiac Rallye II's. They would be a welcome addition with the red Pontiac Dart/Arrowhead in the hub of the wheel.
:)
fordfan 05-16-2004, 07:22 PM  [COLOR=blue]The new GTO is not a GTO by my standards. It is a car with GTO written on its side. If they brought back a retro version of the car that started the muscle car trend, Iwould by it. If they had features that made it look like a GTO, such as a heart stopping V8, headlights on top of each other, and a boxy frame, I would buy it. I dont car for this new car with GTO on it. The car is nice and over-priced but not a GTO.

Wow now there is an original post.
Please keep on the topic of the thread. The thread is about the SLP version of the GTO, not opinions on the GTO being a GTO or not. If you want to discuss it, start a thread in the Lounge or Asylum.
If you are trying to stir things up please refer to the "Trolling" rule in the Rules link above. If you'd like to discuss it please start a thread in one of the two discussion areas mentioned above.
Thank you.

If you park a new gto amonst other cars it makes the others look slow just siting there.I'm glad they didn't go retro, the new mustang looks too old,it's been done.Retro onlylooksgood for 6 mounts.Chopted up PT still isn't selling as well.

I think the autocross nose looks fishy.Scoops have to be funcional otherwise the car would look fake.I like the 04 now,but I look forward to what it developes to down the rode. They'll have to pry my hands off mine.silverstreek
