Z06J,

Got a question about the drive and buy program GM has.

My Dad is an engineer at GM and he said that he could drive the '05 GTO for a few months as a company car and then buy it for a sweet price. :D

Do you know anything about this? If you do, how much am I looking at.

Unfortunately I do not know much about that program you are speaking of. I will ask around and find out. The only thing is I don't have pricing on the 2005s yet.

I may not have much to shed on this topic, but I am partially familiar with what you are referring to.

My mother used to work at the Pontiac and Buick Zone offices here in Denver before they relocated to Michigan in the late 80's-early 90's. They weren't dealers, rather they would pass along current incentive programs, promotions, etc. to local dealers. When she was employed there, they could place a car in what they called "company service" (which would have manufacturer plates) and she was able to drive it at leisure. These types of vehicles were used for promotional purposes, movies, auto shows, etc. When the car reached a certain amount of mileage (1000 miles?), they could then purchase the vehicle below GMS price (if I remember right). However, I would have no idea as to the amount of savings. As you can see my memory fails me and I never concerned myself with those details when I was younger. At any rate, your father may be able to purchase new vehicles at the GMS (GM Supplier) price, which isn't bad to start with, but below that would be even better!

I would assume it has to do with his position first, as to whether he can drive a car in "company service". Then I think it depends on mileage before they can sell it at a rebate to employees. I hope this helps and I hope I didn't spread too many inaccuracies.....

Thanks Paul...I'm hoping for the best. ;)

Pricing on the '04 model didn't come out until November.
