Guys, the pictures of the new 2005 Monaro have come out and I think some here will be happy but others not. check this link.

The monaro does not have the LS2 but a 260 kw tune instead up from the 245kw in the last model. It is proposed that the LS2 will be probably in the next update in approx 12 months.

Yeah...me too. <_< I keep on checking GM BuyPower and nothing.

I like the pics of the Monaro. I hope those tacs will be included with the GTO...I'm assuming they are for fuel/oil pressure. :)

Embargo gets released 8/1...but after these pictures, you don't need a strong imagination to put the puzzle togethor <_<

Some observations:

1. If those are the hood scoops that we will see on the GTO then I must actually say they actually look okay to me. I'm sure some will hate them. Looks wise they are OK with me. Problem is they look non-functional and in by book that makes them near worthless.

2. Exhaust exiting both sides is a must but I do NOT like the ugly gray plastic rear fascia housing the tips. Looks very cheap. I hate that ABS plastic cr@p. Hopefully it will be painted on the GTO.

3. I love the guage pod over the center dash. Man I wish I had that with oil pressure and voltmeter or trans. temp guages. Maybe there will be kits for us to install these retroactive on 2004's if the 2005's get it.

Branden's right, it doesn't take much to imagine what the 2005 will look like now. I'm sure someone is photoshopping it up right as we speak. :)

If the Monaro doesn't have the LS2, the GTO will not have the LS2, I'm willing to bet

I'll take that bet. ;)

All leaked info points to the LS2 in the 05 GTO. Remember the 2005 SSR is getting a version of the LS2 also. Just because the Monaro doesn't get it doesn't mean the GTO won't.

We will all find out Aug. 1 or 2. It not having a LS2 would be a bigger shocker than the actual news of the LS2 coming out. Does that make sense???

:D

Without any new information they look functional per sae... as in they do allow the air to flow in, as to whether that extra air does anything... :):).... if you look closely at the very inside of each scoop you will notice some white (??) which carries on down to what you see either side of the Holden logo... no idea what that actually is but its enough to tell me that the scoops allow airflow as opposed to to being drag increases.

The fog/driving lights either side of the lower grill are interesting..not bad or good.. just interesting... the dual single (??) exhaust is very nice, i think i would go for the HSV Coupe4 look myself but at the same time they made the pipes big enough so they dont look stupid... one of my problems with the setup on the TA's was the single exhausts pipes werent big enough to make the styling work.

Btw, i could be mistaken but they look like HID headlights.

Otherwise i am pretty much sold on the look.

Best guess is that the car pictured is will be a minor update to the Monaro/GTO as scheduled with the VZ commodore range later this year. The all new VE commodore range (of which the monaro/GTO will be one model) is meant to come out with the lS2 in 2005, but could be delayed till later. 2006??

Im just speculating here based on whats been reported in the Australian motoring press.

they made the pipes big enough so they dont look stupid... yep agree with you on that one, looks great with an oval shaped or rectangular shaped pipes.

Also I think it would have been better if that car had a VZ type front. BTW colour that back bumper, grey looks cr@p.

i still think ls2 for 05 are a gooooooooo. From what ive been hearing , HSV would more likely get ls2s and normal holdens get ls1s (holden now being very cautious of unproven engines). Therefor it makes sense to test thm out on GTOs and HSVs.

The 2005 GTO HAS THE LS2! I have seen the OFFICAL pictures of it! On the back, right said it has "6.0" badging!

The pic of the emblem with the 6.0 litre wording is the most important! :afro:

Not happy Jan.

I'd have to agree with Bane from ls1.com.au . We f'd up their car. I am glad i have the 04' and not that "ricey" looking 05'. Only good thing they added was the gage pod in the center dash.

"I am glad i have the 04' and not that "ricey" looking 05'"

How is the '05 ricey looking? The hood looks great, not too "in your face" looking, looks very tastfull, and has a Pontiac look to it. People are severly over-using the "rice" term, it's getting quite old.

Man, I guess you can't please everyone and some seem to be missing the point. Look, the '05 isn't just about hood scoops and boot/trunk space. Besides, it (a hood with scoops) is reported to be an OPTION, which is very tastefully done I might add. Personally I'd take an '05 over the '04 any day for the simple reason it out performs the LS1. And if you want the exhaust to come out one side, well that's your problem and an easy fix. Howie is correct - the most important addition for '05 is the "6.0 litre".

I'm sure the hood will be an option, why wouldn't it be? It was an option on the F's.

And im sure we will see just as many posed 05's as we do posed Ws6's....

I wouldn't say its rice as it has performance to back it up, but I do like the non scoop as it is now, but once I see one in person I will pass full judgment on its style. I do like the dual exiting exhaust, but the black tail panel is still out in the open.

last time i checked i am open to my opinion. I perfer the single side exhaust, and i like the stealth look of the 04. the only good thing i see is the gage pods.

as for the ricer thing, the rear exhaust looks just like many Civic dual side exhaust kits the ricers run out here in LA.

The comments about the '05 appearance modifications as "ricey" is totally rediculous. These aren't coffee can size exhaust tips that sound like a motorized scooter, nor is the tail totally obnoxious like those bolt-ons. Plus, the hood is a traditional design reminiscent of other Pontiac designs and if it's functional, it's for better performance. IMHO: If performance isn't your primary concern then you're just another ricer. Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion and don't be offended if someone has a rebuttal. I don't think it's your opinions that are under attack, a stealth appearance is cool in itself (Regal GN, T-Type). Let's just stop with the ridiculous comparisons.

true. The 04 is nice IMO, but i think the 05 will be even better.

LS2 AWESOME!!!! Sorry I ever doubted you guys, I can rest easy now. Maybe one day a GTO with the LS7?? We can only dream, I'm not worried about it. It would be cool though.
