Is it possible to do a nice burnout with the traction controll off in the GTO?

Possibly brake torqueing it and then stomp it?

Burnout is no problem. Depending on the street surface you might need to help it a little.

I like having my left foot on the brake and the right on the gas holding it at about 1700 - 2000 rpm's(just at the point where the tires are trying to break free) and then SLAM it home. Keep her in first or it will get to much wheel speed and jump to second and slow you way down. Watch your rpm's and shift up to second at the right moment and she'll continue to spin in second for a short distance.

Also i can break my tires is a down shift from 3rd to 2nd at about 60 mph. not to the point of peeling out but the a**-end does get a little squirlly.

I LOVE THIS CAR :dribble:

Yeah I know. I own an A4. Re read what i said and follow the directions to the "T".

just because it is an auto doesn't mean we can't shift the gears a little. get your speed up enough with the burn out before you shift it up to second. Key word is "up" as i said in the previous post. If i had a M6 it would say shift down as 1st is above 2nd.

Why would you bother shifting the transmission at all? you dont need to have the wheels spinning faster to get good rubber spinning, just leave it in drive, hit brake, hit gas...nuff said.

Not really Nocturn. I take it you have an M6. The A4 second gear is to tall and if you have it in drive and slam it and the wheels spin to the point the gears will change you will drop down to a turtles crawl. Been there done that. Nuff said :D

Lol yea (5 speed though) I can see your point where it would shift and kill your burnout but it still doesnt seem all that complicated, well not near trying to do it in a standard.

LOL ... Now that we got that behind us, with the M6 can you pull a burnout through 3rd gear?

Another good shift for the A4's is from 3rd to 2nd at 70 mph. redline is right at about 80 mph in 2nd, but when you hit it in 3rd @ 70 mph it won't down shift automatically, So i have to mash it and throw it down to 2nd to engage it and then immediately back up to 3rd as to not hit the rev limiter. Trust me i have the A4 mastered and get every little bit i can out of it. I have to incase i meet up with one of you M6 guy's :D

Having owned a '96 Camaro with a 200hp 3.8 V6 attached to a 4L-60E, I was wondering:
Will the GTO will upshift to second gear even though the the shifter remains in 1ST??? My '96 would upshift in the middle of a burnout almost everytime
I solved the problem by trading it on '98 m6 Z-28. :D .. It stayed in first as long as I wanted it to, now...
My new GTO had to be a stick for that reason and 'cuz the wife don't drive standard.

stick = auto?

I always thought a stick was a standard...

But anyways from my knowledge, the tranny will only upshift it you hit the redline, and even then the GTO has the power to keep spinning through the next gear.

Putting it in 1st, the auto will NOT upshift like other vehicles do when the rpm's get to high.

if you catch the goat on the right surface, you can burnout all the way through 4th on the m6. Just a little heads up though, if you break the tires loose through forth gear, they are usually spinning alot. What i'm getting at is I have a section of rubber on my rear quater panels and it's not easy to get off. So if you are into doing burnouts, don't do too many of them.

Mike D I TRIED THAT ON MY AZTEK AND IT ACCTUALLY WORKED KEEP AT 2000RPM AND SLAM IT ON 1 THAN WHEN YOU GET TO 5000 RPM THE AWD SYSTEM ENGAGES BECAUSE OF THE SENSOR TO SENSE WHEELS SPIM SO I JUST LIKE TAKE OFF REAL FAST AND THAN BRAKE :woot:

Easy with the caps lock.

I've spun my tires a few times, but nothing to the extent where I have to s****e rubber from the rear of the vehicle. I've never carried it beyond 2nd gear.

why why why... It might look cool, and is very fun, but jeeze guys, it sure does look like you treat your cars like sh!t when you do that. I dont know about everybody else, but that 30k i paid for the car was hard earned. I guess i got the burnouts out of my system after I sold my IROC. to each his own i guess. :eatarrow:

we have a pretty big parking lot at our warehouse in corona,ca and when my stock tires were about done, i had some fun doing some figure 8's. after that 5 minutes of fun it was on with the new rubber.

They are fun and indeed hard on your tires, but why fry your rear brakes in the process!!?? You need one of these (http://www.newagegto.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2714).
