Yeah SLP chose the name BOBCAT (guess who kept The Judge).

It features EXTERNALLY,
bobcat emblems under the GTO plate
twin scoops
new 18" wheels
and a black rear spoiler

And INTERNALLY (mechanically)

mid length 1-5/8 inch headers

2.5" cat back exhaust with functional X pipe crossover
4.5" modular mufflers and polished chrome tips (still on one side)

85mm mass air meter Claimed 90cfm flow increase over stock

1.85 ratio rocker arms with SLP 1.255 inch springs and titanium retainers

SFI Crankshaft underdrive balancer pully (25% underdriven)

160 degree thermostat

SLP PCM Tuning

SLP lightweight billet steel flywheel

stronger dual mass clutch (the z06 clutch)

SLP blackwing airfilter

Reduced throw shifter

Which means basically - new intake, headers, suspension, computer stuff, and a shifter

I though dont really like their spoiler, its less aggressive and more toned down than the stock spoiler. Plus its black and correct me if I'm wrong but the nameplate says 5.7L GTO not MACH 1, the wheels are cool but not an improvement merely a different style to appeal to some more than others. Me taking to the stock wheels

the scoops kinda sink with the hood and arent reallt prounounced, kinda like a late v6 firebird.

Small minor cuts in the body look better.

And there will be

A
371hp option
389hp option
and the 421hp option

And if you pick up the latest pontiac enthusiast you can read a big long photo filled exciting article about the new GTO BOBCAT, and how it has no problem running 12's (421 option)
And how the clutch obliterated during an attempted burnout.

Its cool and imagine what they'll do with the 05, but I am still a menial onlooker standing in the courtroom waiting for The Judge.................

With all my experiance with SLP I won't be going in for any of their ****py packages, I just hope some dealers will still have GTO's without them alrady tacked on.

Royal Pontiac's Bobcat cars were to Pontiac what Yenko is to Chevrolet.

Got Pontiac Enthusiast and read the article today.

Article claimed they were only getting 415 HP instead of 421 due to the headers.

My next question naturally is how much does this package cost. Knowing SLP's prices I'd say it's pretty steep, looks like I'll have to visit their website to find out.

I was doing some creative computing and got into their systems, and I found their price calculator and it was something along the lines of...

Price of car/horsepower*2.0+1/3 price of car amount = price of upgrades.

.....im serious.

okay im not but they are REALLY overpriced.

That is true. Im suprised i havent thought of this before. This is a great name for the car. I knew a special GTO would be called the Judge, but the bobcat name is also very famous. Bobcat was a speed shop that has been souping up Pontiacs since before the GTO. It was located in Royal Oak Mn. The bobcat comes from bob( bonneville) and cat( catallina). Once the goat came out that became there primary car to hot rod( although they did still do others). They would soup up cars in varring degrees. A minor package might add little things like ram air. Then mid level mods would be serious engine work. Then heavy duty mods would be swaping a 389 for a 421( such as the red 64 used in the caranddriver GTO vs GTO) or 400 for a 428. For the most part royal cars looked like regular GTOs. There was a little badge which was the only indicator. The only royal bobcat car that looks different from the regualr car is the 69 special. They took a ram air IV GTO and modified it. It was half terquois and half white. It was sweet. This car could run in the mid 12s with a modded ram air IV. With the ram air V they added it ran in the 11s. 69 was the last year. This speedshop/ pontiac dealer was sold and is know the stuff of legends. Royal GTOs are very rare and valuable. The documantation on them is not as good as yenko. Its tough to tell if your car is a real bobcat.

Yep, great choice for a name! I wonder if the Bobcat paint scheme would work on the modern version? Here's the best pick of the paint scheme I found:

just go to yahoo and type it in. You will find plenty of images and sites were you will see photos of it. It has the same paint scheme as the GTO you got only the red areas on that GTO would be turquois. I belevive they only built one with this type of paint scheme and it was turquois.

If past history is any indication, the packages will probably be quite expensive. I went to SLP's site and looked up the prices of some of the individual pieces from their current price list.

2.5" cat back exhaust with functional X pipe crossover
4.5" modular mufflers and polished chrome tips (still on one side)
$599.95 or $699.95

85mm mass air meter Claimed 90cfm flow increase over stock
$159.95

1.85 ratio rocker arms with SLP 1.255 inch springs and titanium retainers
$749.99

SFI Crankshaft underdrive balancer pully (25% underdriven)
$229.95

160 degree thermostat
$19.95

Now just add the price of everything else, plus installation costs, and there you go. It will be interesting to see how well these packages do.
