Thanks for getting the info. Noticed the interior shot did not have the gauges on the dash. Also, would like to see if we can get a group deal on Mito rearview mirrors with Homelink.

Also no rear spoiler? Does that mean you can order a Goat rear spoiler delete?

That would be just the way I take mine: no spoiler, with hood scoops! Beautiful.

Thanks for the info.I drove by my local Pontiac dealer today and there it was a beautiful black GTO with twin hood scoops .It had some real good looking chrome wheels on it .Looked like 18" wheels. They weren't after market wheels because the center hub had the Pontiac dart in it. Man it was one bad looking GTO. Going back to look and see if it was a 2005

I really like the new look to my surprise, the scoops look alright, and the rear looks pretty **** good, although I think the same exhaust tips used on the 04 would look better, dual tips on both sides.

It is kinda big and stands out :)... the only thing that comes to mind is a starter button? But i have not heard of that feature being available on the Monaro's yet... a possibility but not confident on my guess.

As to the new look, no rear spoiler and dual single pipes makes for a very nice rear end, a more subtle hood but a more aggressive lower section. I definately like the hood scoops... very much to my liking.

The 05 is looking good, it is already my wallpaper.... now to figure out a way to get one of those babies in my drive way without going broke :)

Does the back remind anyone else of a SL600 mercedes with the top up? Not a complaint by any means either.

Very nice. I really like the changes that are coming for '05. I think the hood scoops look great. And I like the idea that they are optional. This way, those people who may not want hood scoops, will not get stuck with them. The choice will be yours.

I find it very interesting that the GTO in these pictures has no rear spoiler. My guess is either a spoiler delete option, or, the spoiler is no longer standard. It will be optional, like the hood scoops. I hope either of these is the case. Again, the choice will be yours.

No guages on top of the center console is curious. This seems to contradict the 2005 Monaro pictures that were released earlier. Another option perhaps?

The new rear facia looks good, but there is one thing that concerns me. The strip inbetween the pipes appears to be a dark grey or black. This may not change regardless of the color of the rest of the car. It is a minor issue and further pictures in different colors will clear this up.

Overall, I am very impressed.

how come this 05 has a spoiler and the other one dosent. Whats going on? I like the spoiler. I hope it still comes standard on the GTO. I love the hood scoops. Perfect! The rear exhaust i like 2( i would have rather had 4 pipes coming out in pairs but hey ya cant be pickey). Nice car.

love it......specially that nice lil #400 w/ horsepower next to it :D

still think they gotta change the wheels...... never liked them (throw on the show car's wheels or some better 5-spokes). they don't go w/ the car... nice clean car w/ messed up wheels. but hey, if i EVER got one there's always aftermarket or australia to buy from.

man i gotta win the lottery so i can get one.

:D Changes look great !! Now I am even more anxious to get mine in. Wish they had tweaked the interior more. Oh well, guess we'll just have to support the aftermarket companies.

Also, since the "Sport Appearance Package" will be shipped to dealers, I don't think it will take much time to find these pieces available elsewhere seperately (and in all of the colors) ??

The same pictures at http://www.wieck.com have the spoiler. Thats were the second set of posted pictures might have come from. And the Pontiac listings still show spoiler, with no delete option. Only delete option is for the hood spoilers.

I have read were some aftermarket wheels designned for the GTO will be able to use a factory center cap.

And the car can't be a 2005 as production will not start until September and it will be almost December before they make it here.

So the cars don't get here till December, and probably won't hit dealer lots till January.

I don't know about you guys but even here in Arizona, isn't January considered winter? Not that it snows or gets cold here but what about the rest of the country. They will be in deep freeze by then.

Isn't this, by Pontiac's own admission, their mistake in introducing the 2004 during winter last year?

So I guess history will repeat itself. At least Pontiac will have another excuse if the 2005's don't sell as well as expected.

I found it interesting in the list of '05 options, that it listed Purple as an interior color. In a separate forum here I read that Cosmos Purple and Barbados Blue would be dropped for '05. In '04, you could only get the purple leather interior with Cosmos Purple. So unless one of these is incorrect, this could make for some really cool exterior/interior color combos, i.e. black/purple, silver/purple, gray/purple.

The rear spoiler should be an option. The car looks better without it. I like the rear fill, though if it is the typical gm platigrey, I would paint it.

IF someone would come out with a decent set of rear tailights, the back would be pretty good.

Not hot on the hood, not sure if it is an improvement or not. A decent looking set of aftermarket wheels would make a huge diffrence...

Well in terms of stock wheels, I think the GTO's are pretty good.

I personally like the lights as they are, I don't see the need for aftermarket new designs, maybe black out panels would look better, but they look good as is IMO.

When the 04 came out, it reminded me of the 64 GT; a fast sleeper.
Everyone was complaining about the styling and a few people seemed to write off the GTO altogether.
Nobody considered the fact that the GTO only got better as the 60's wore on.
GM ain't stupid enough not to listen to the buying public.
The 05 reminds me of the 65, which is my favorite GOAT... a little flashier but not bloated and overstyled.
So if I can talk my wife into it, I'll bring one home.
I'll tell her that if she makes me wait, its' gonna cost her more because then I will have to get the convertible!
Anyone know any good selling tactics for penny-pinching wives?

Do you have a GM card? Theres one. Roomy interior ;) . Pretty efficient engine (the LS2 is probably the most efficient V8 in it's class)...and it's a friggin GTO!

It's something for the pre-production mules. Mostlikely a fuel-Shutoff. If you look at the location of the button (near the fuel tank button), it would not be something attached to something else on the dash of the '04's, so it's likely something pre-production:

Start leaving catalogs and magazines with Porsches and Donzis laying around all over the house. Make sure they include prices.

September 15 build.
Delivery ALMOST December = late November = Thanksgiving.

That's when I'm expecting mine. As promised. :woot:

For'04 they had to create the entire distibution chain. For GM, it's surprising that alone didn't take 3 years.

For '05 the distribution system is in place. C'mon, let's think positive. :D

Take that "as promised" with a grain of salt.

I'm surely not trying to dissuade you or discourage you but there were numerous members who preordered 04's and were "promised" Nov. or Dec. and ended up waiting months after that. I hope it won't happen to you but I wouldn't take a promise from GM or the dealer as something set in stone. Believe it when you get it. Let's hope they keep their word. :)

Well the 64 GTO was never a sleeper in its day but whatever. Most people do prefer the 65 though. I have owned both and i think the 64 is better looking.

I've heard that the red button is an emergency shutoff in case the drive by wire goes goofy.

It could just be :bs:

It was a emergency shut off on the pre-production GTO's, it isn't there on the actual production cars. Most test mules, and pre-production cars that are used for testing have them.

I hope that the gto does get the new ls2 motor. Drove a new vette and any dealer that has an 04 is in trouble the new torque of the ls2 is awesome to say the least. I was seriously thinking about getting an 04 with 3500 in rebate and 2.9% for 60 months but I can wait if the ls2 is coming.

All this talk about the 2005 gto but does anyone know what the price is. I talked to the dealer and he said that the price should be the same or maybe even a little less. He said some of the 2005 models are cheeper than the 2004. The dealer doesn't have any information on it yet so im still waiting. So does anyone know how much its gonig to be?????

The dealer is lieing to you, the MSRP is going to go up, but not any more than a grand or so. it sould be 33980 or around there.

And the 05 IS equipped with the LS2.

GTO12005
09-28-2004, 04:42 PM
I'm waiting for confirmation on the pricing from my dealer. Been waiting to order my '05. I had already placed my order for an '04, then two days later received confirmation that the '05 gets the LS2. I pulled the order and will wait for an '05.

The '04's are indeed tempting because of the rebate, plus dealer discounts and through 9/30, 0% for up to 72 months...

If the dealers have to do all of that to get the '04's off the lot, I'd say waiting for an '05 is a good move.

I would not be surprised to see the '05's base MSRP lower than '04 with a couple options added that were standard issue on the '04. GM marketing trick, de-content, lower base MSRP and then when optioned out purchase price is higher.

Sneaky aren't they?
