OK, there is some confusion as to what that knob on the dash is. What do you think it is?

The answer is kinda anti-climatic but, just for kicks...what do YOU think it's for?
:P

Im assuming its something the factory puts on one of the knobs so it doesn't get messed up during transfer, at least I hope to god thats what it is.

If you look closely at it you can see that it has arrows on it pointing in a clockwise direction. Which doesn't make any sense because it looks exactly like a safety cutoff switch. You know the type that you push for cutoff and then turn to reset.

What was in that position on the 04? I tried looking at a picture but I couldn't find one with good enough resolution.

No matter what it is, I'm sure it won't be on the 05.

No red button in mine. I think it looks tacky. Nothing in the car could be that important to deserve a red button that obnoxious, unless its a shot of NO2 that catapults you to 1.5 Gs of force...

My final answer is that it is a Fuel pump cutoff button. The reason it is here is because this is a picture of the new 05 that was being used for testing, and during testing a fuel cutoff switch would be a pretty nice thing to have.

If that's a test car, it's probably a starter button. Don't want people wasting time looking for the key. :type:

I still say its some protection for shipment, its 05 unique as there isn't anything there on the 04s. So it must be a switch for something underneath...moonroof perhaps?

This isn't really a serious question, is it??? I mean, I haven't had my GTO for the last 6 days, 3 hours and 45 minutes but...

It is most definitely the passenger-eject button.

 oooooops! my mistake, thought you were talking about the one on the steering column. The red triangular -shaped button on the dash, is for turning on and off your traction control........... :)

The traction control button is actually located in middle console behind the power window switches next to the emergency brake.

It is my routine to turn off TC as soon as I turn on engine. I don't need it in AZ and the car behaves like a different machine with it off. Much bigger fun factor.
