I've heard talk of some people wanting to sell their 04's to get an 05. I don't think I'm interested in doing this, but those extra ponies are enticing. For those interested in doing this how are you going to go about it without you wallet taking a beating? My guess is you can't and those who do, want the 05 bad enough to where it is worth the loss.

find an area where all dealers are selling well above msrp and offer your slightly used, only driven on sundays GTO to them a little bit below msrp???
Otherwise, but the 05 hood and do some engine work and have an 04 that is just as good as an 05 without your wallet getting a solid beating.

It all depends on how much you paid for your 04?
Did you pay MSRP at $33,190???
Did you pay dealer mark up? If so, how much? I know folks who willingly paid 35K and sometimes even 38K for their 04 GTO.
If they sell their current cars, they will get very low $20's for it.
Then the 05's will probably cost about $35K
Some dealers (most dealers where I am from) will mark them up again.
You do the math. Your experience will be similar to spending a couple of rounds inside the ring with a really pissed off hungry horny Mike Tyson.

If you have $10K to put down on the 05 you should have no issue :hysterical:

One word. Supercharger
exactly, for what you will lose on your '04 buy a SC and be faster than the '05 for the same cash. You can then spend a little more to get the larger brakes.

I would like to take advantage of the influx of traded-in 04s when the 05s come out. Maybe that'll be my best bet for getting a GTO for a great deal. What do ya'll think?
Dealers...do you expect a lot of current owners to trade-in for the 05s? What kind of pricetag do you foresee on the used 04s?

If you want the '05, I would trade in the '04 at the dealer you bought it from. But expect to pay out close to $10k on the deal. You will save on the sales tax by trading it in if that applies.
Whether or not that is worth it is an individual decision.

10K ouch.
What kind of mods can you buy for 10K? Will an 04 be faster than 05 with that much added to it in terms of 10K worth of modifications?
