: An embarrassing moment
04GOATGERM 08-15-2004, 07:36 PM Puerto Rico 93 / US 72.
These guys get paid millions because there so good at basketball...WTF?!!! :flush:
I guess they didn't have enough time to practice together...but still. :bs:
News article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5714961/)
CTSilverGoat 08-15-2004, 08:08 PM Haha, serves `em right for being so full of themselves.
They should worry less about what their bling bling looks like on MTV's Cribs and more about praticing rebounding. :afro:
JohnPaulPSU 08-15-2004, 09:14 PM I caught some of the Womens softball game against Australia earlier today, they invoked the mercy rule after the 5th it was U.S. 10 Australia 0.

I agree, I'm all for the US winning as many medals as possible but I hope the men's B-ball team looses the a$$es!! If they don't win a medal at all I'll laugh!! :hysterical:
ssberlina 08-16-2004, 02:41 AM Honestly basketball and to an even lessor extent softball and baseball do not have a big following here in Aust. I am even surprised they found enough players to make a softball team.
All I can say is Aust is looking the goods at the moment on the medal count for a nation with only approx 20 million people. That is until the track events start.
Tails 08-16-2004, 11:05 AM I used to have season tickets in the early 80's. I started to notice the NBA going down hill at that time. After Magic and Larry the slide accelerated and after Michael it was all over. I would love if we could bring the old Boston Bill Russell teams back and show the new players how much they actually suck.

forestdweller 08-16-2004, 12:56 PM From the article...
“That was him telling his island of 4 million people he was very proud to beat the big colossal from the north,” Puerto Rico coach Julio Toro said
4 Million??! Thats like 1/5 the population of NYC LOL
I love the early medal tallies, Australia sitting in 2nd spot with 6 gold. Of course it'll all change once the track and field starts as we don't far particularly well in those medals. But still the 2nd largest team at the games and 6 gold so far, not bad for a country of 20 million, is pride a sin?

jbernie 08-16-2004, 08:38 PM Maybe the top line NBA players who aren't on trial for various crimes should go play for their country and be proud to be an American instead of sitting at home and counting the $$$ from their latest endorsement or trying to decide what color car they need next.
It is not often an Aussie decided to sit out an olympic competition for reasons other than injury. Mind you we could do without the court cases over non selection.
It appears that alot of American male basketballers do not understand what it means to represent your country, bring back Jordan, Barkley, Bird etc, it might not be a close competition but they seemed proud to be Americans.
No disrespect to those who are playing, but pull your fingers out and try harder.'
