: 2004 GTO
GTO-TOM 08-22-2004, 11:01 AM I bought a brand new 2004 GTO Red/Red M6 this week for $26,888 (28,888 - 2k rebate) and got 2.9% for 60 mo. I went to order an 05 but the order was kick back due to the 18" wheel option. Then I got this great deal, and couldn't pass it up. With financing and all, I am sure I saved $6-7k over an 05.
This car is awsome!!
Tom :D
Orbit Orange 08-22-2004, 03:51 PM Congrats!!!
Great price. Care to give some details?
Enjoy the stupid grin every time you fire it up. :D
Nocturn 08-22-2004, 06:13 PM **** that is a good deal.
I don’t see how they can do it on a new car…
GM Employer price $29,845.70 and 2.9% for 60 + $2000 = $27894.70
Unless it is a test vehicle with 200mi+
Nocturn 08-22-2004, 06:45 PM Probably dealer discounts I imagine.
GM Employer price already below of what dialers paying for the car themselves
They need to submit authorization number to GM just to get money they lose back
GTO-TOM 08-23-2004, 12:40 AM I am not sure how they can do it either, just that they did. My car had less than 10 miles on it. None of the other dealers in the area would come close. When I was in Az last month I saw a black one for $29,300 on the windshield. This was before they had the rebates. Still how was that dealer able to lower it that much.
When I contacted the dealers last week, I was straight up with them..told them I was going to order an 05 when possible (waiting on the 18" option Nov production delay). I had preset in my mind that if I could get an 04 for $27k before I actually got an 05 ordered, I would take it. The day before I got it for 26xxx, they offered it for $27,888 and I left. They called me back the next day and gave it to me for 26.
Tom :D
Sounds like a Christmas story
I have to see paper work to understand what they did (or should I say to believe)
BRMike 08-23-2004, 08:03 AM Congrats! I tried to buy a GTO this past Saturday, but the trade-in killed the deal. The price I got was $29,600. However, I would've been pretty far upside down on my truck. So, I'll continue to try to sell it...... I'm hoping for a November GTO now.
briandors 08-24-2004, 08:45 AM I went last night to a dealer with Tom's deal in mind, and we didn't get anywhere near that. He stuck to GM Supplier minus the $2000. Then he refused me a test drive since we were "so far apart on the money" even though I was asking to drive a used 04 with 6000 miles, to just get the feel of the car because I still haven't gotten to drive one.
Oh well, his loss. If I end up going 05 I won't order from him that's for sure. He asked me to come back if I couldn't find a better deal elsewhere. Ha! Anyone will take GM Supplier these days, and if that's what I have to pay in the Cleveland area, I'll buy from someone else. Besides the 6000 mile yellow one they had two black automatics with 500 miles a piece, demos. So obviously the dealer isn't that concerned about keeping miles off these cars.
Typing this I wasn't sure if I was gonna name the dealer, but, yea, since his attitude/helpfulness was pretty poor, I'll come out and say it was Ganley Pontiac in North Olmsted, OH.
Brian
briandors 08-25-2004, 10:04 AM Tried a different dealer last night and got my first test drive. :)
I'll keep my review short. black/red 6 spd.
GOOD:
awesome exhaust, would never want it louder; nice ride balance & low road noise; mechanically tight; grin inducing acceleration.
BAD:
with 98 miles on the odometer, this car already had TWO interior noises. one was a plasticky creak coming from the driver's rear window area as the body flexed. the other was a rattle that sounded like it was coming from behind the instrument panel or the center stack of the dash. these were fairly smoothe roads!
Doesn't anyone make a well-assembled interior??? That's all I want, a well built car, interior rattle free, and some power under the hood. He did have 6 other cars but I wasn't gonna drive them all to find one that didn't have problems since we didn't have a tentative deal yet. So we went inside to talk money, and he pitched me the sticker price. When I pressed him a little he told me there was $1800 between sticker and invoice and we could negotiate that.
Since he didn't even know about the $2000 rebate (his price cheat sheet had 8/3 on it) I thanked him for his time and left.
I still have no idea how Tom got $26,888. Had I mentioned that price to either of the two dealers I've visited I think they would have laughed out loud. Tom do you mind naming your dealer and salesman? Perhaps I could fly out and drive the goat back?
To all you '04 owners: with your windows rolled up, and the stereo off, do you hear any noises in your interior? creaks, clicks, rattles, squeaks? Please tell me your mileage when you answer this question. Thank you!
Brian
gto_in_nc 08-25-2004, 10:14 AM I'v got just under 4600 miles right now and not the slightest hint of a squeak, rattle, click, clunk, vibration, whistle - nothing. Not at 20 on cobblestone roads or at 80 on the Interstate.

Tom gave me the dealer information and I emailed them. His first reply to me said that he would sell a GTO for $100 over invoice. I replied back and said that I had a friend that just bought one from him for $28,xxx. He replied back and said to call him today if I was ready to buy. So it sounded like he was willing to deal.

nick_the_brit 08-25-2004, 02:17 PM Hello All,
I just bought an '04, red/red, 6sp, from a dealer here in southern CA. It was a no haggle deal, he gave me his best price up front, which was $29,200 plus delivery of $700. Seeing what other people paid, I think that was a pretty good deal. I did the whole deal via email and he even stuck to his trade-in quote for my truck, sight unseen. All in all, the best buying experience in 15 years I've had at a dealership, no BS at all, no sneaky tricks, nothing. Anyone need any more info, I'd be happy to share...
gto_in_nc 08-25-2004, 02:24 PM Welcome aboard, Nick! And congratulations on the Goat!!! When did you drive it off the lot?
nick_the_brit 08-25-2004, 02:35 PM bought it 3 days ago, and I'm very impressed so far, it seems to have the best of both worlds, plenty of performance without a bone jarring ride, great seats. Top marks for the interior and style, it looks way better up close than it does in the magazines.
gto_in_nc 08-25-2004, 02:40 PM Only three days ago? Well... in that case...
YEEEEEE-HAAAWWW!!!
I assume you read this forum prior to your purchase and are fully aware the the grin is permanent? :D
briandors 08-25-2004, 02:42 PM Nick-
GM Supplier is in the low $31k range and there is the $2000 rebate right now so your $29,200 is very respectable, but nowhere near Tom's $26,888.
Still CA is a long ways from Cleveland. I will try the highest-stocking Pontiac dealer in this area, later this week. Supposedly Jay Pontiac has 10 on the lot with 21 on the way! Maybe they'll be more eager than dealers with 4 or 7.

Tom, that is a SMOKE'N DEAL
Congrats and enjoy :friday:
nick_the_brit 08-25-2004, 02:52 PM ...the first dealership wouldnt budge from msrp AND offered me a terrible trade in for my truck. I went to him after I had began the emails with the fleet manager/internet sales manager at the other dealer. I just wanted to see the difference between the two approaches they would have. The msrp dealer gave me the typical sales run around, poor offer, made me sit and wait too long, bad trade in and then excuses why they were demanding full msrp. After his "best" offer I showed him a copy of the email from the internet manager at the other dealership and said they could earn my business if they could beat this offer, to which they replied "there's no way they can do that with those numbers!!" nedless to say, they will never see a penny from me ever again, not even in service/oil changes.
lbgtp 08-25-2004, 03:16 PM Nick -
Do you mind sharing the Out-The-Door price you paid? Was is 30-31k with taxes?
Thanks,
Lee
nick_the_brit 08-25-2004, 03:48 PM ok, $30,250 plus delivery, plus tax of $2400, less the $2000 rebate, plus $45 doc fee, plus $257 license fee, equals approx $31,600 OTD which includes first years CA registration. I had sent email requests to 5 dealerships, and the prices ranged from this one (lowest) to 3k over msrp!!! The internet guy i was dealing with turned out to be the owner and it was a very good buying experience.
pmartin 08-25-2004, 03:52 PM I just sent an e-mail to John at Puente Hills Pontiac. I am hoping to get a reply tonight and drive down on Sunday (I live in San Jose, CA)to finish off paperwork. If the price is right of course. :D
nick_the_brit 08-25-2004, 03:54 PM i forgot to add, in california, you get no credit for the value of your trade, thats why the final $$ maybe higher than you thought. i know in nevada if the vehicle is say 20k and your trade is worth 8k, then you only pay sales tax on the remainder of 12k. makes a big difference if your trade-in is worth something and is pretty typical for california...everything costs more here...ho hum.
pmartin 08-25-2004, 05:08 PM I was just quoted a purchase price of $31,395 in central CA. 6 speed. Still waiting for word from Southern CA. Sorry about all of these posts, but it is very exciting! New GTO....almost. :)

Congrats Nick, what dealer did you get your car at. I looked at several inventories in the So Cal area. So you got it for $29,xxx before rebates? That's real close to my deal. I saw a black A4 in phoenix (new) at a dealer on Bell road that was $29,200 before rebates..again that is only $27,200 after rebates..less than $400 more than what I paid.
Tom :)
nick_the_brit 08-25-2004, 06:08 PM i wish.....$29,200 AFTER rebate. Still seemed a good price when you see others paying thousands and thousands more. I expected to pay about $1500 more than i got it for...as i said So Cal, everything is more. Dont bother with dealers in vegas, i lived there for years, worst place ever to buy car, new or used, period.
nick_the_brit 08-25-2004, 06:09 PM car bought from Jessup in cathedral city, california, he had about 12 on the lot, various colors etc.
droopy 08-28-2004, 09:57 AM I just got a flyer advertising an additional 1500 in gm card bonus earnings. If one had a 1000 in gm card earnings already, that would be 2500 to use. The fine print says this offer can't be combined with the" New Vehicle Purchase Program discount (GM discount)." Now is that the official name for the GMAC 2.9 for 60 mos and 2000 rebate program ? If not, then this all adds up to a potential 4500 off your best negotiated deal. Might be too good to pass up.

Hey! I'm in finance here in Vegas.
;)
We own a Pontiac store, if anyone wants a deal, let me know.
:D
I think we have 5 or 6 in stock.
Nodezone 08-30-2004, 07:47 PM The latest prices I've seen advertised here in NE for GTOs were in the 28,999 range after rebate. Long way from MSRP, eh wot? (Oh, and for those Pikers who don't believe you can get 2005s under MSRP, the dealers up here are negotiating at $1,000 below MSRP on 2005s, whatever exactly it ends up being). Brave New World.....

With competative bussiness practices like this I see a good future for the GTO next year.
Felix C. 09-01-2004, 05:29 PM I am in Miami, Fl and today telephoned a local Pontiac dealer regarding a Barbados Blue GTO which has sat in the same spot on the lot for some months. I was advised the price is $34,900. I was silent for a bit and then advised that was rather high considering 2005s will be available soon. The rep. then told me he would reduce cost to $31,900. There would be another $2000 rebate if I went through GMAC. I have already prequalified with my Credit Union. The rep then advised the price was $29,888 if GMS were factored in.+$2000 rebate if I finance through GMAC. I told him I was in no rush and was awaiting road test information the new Mustang GT and 2005 GTO. How low could a 2004 GTO conceivably go? What is invoice on these cars with manual?
