Hello im new here  i have a few q's for ya guys. i own an 89 iroc camaro and am a member at several f-body sites. basicly were all in the dark about the gto's. if the car comes with a 9 bolt or a 10. if it's a 9 is it a borg warner? some older 3rd gen f-bodys (ones with the L98) got the borg warner 9-bolt which was much more stronger then the 10 bolt. but gm stoped using them for cost resons ( australian built) and parts for them are a bitch to find. It can cost as much as 1k if u want a gear change with new parts. so if parts can be swaped between them that would make ALOT of people happy! <_< if you guys have pics that would be awsome thanx

Im almost certain that is a 10bolt, probably the same as shared with the vette. Seems your a bit out of luck in thar area. Gm doesn't seem likely to be using the same rearend from a different model car, thats at least 12 years old.

Hope this can help. ;)

IERFD,

Gears for the F-body with the Borg Warner rear are expensive if you buy OEM gears. There are several aftermarket companies, mine being one of them, that makes these gears for the aftermarket.

As for the GTO the rear is basically a hybrid of the DANA 44 similar to the Vette and Viper. The rear is called a Model M80 - IRS made by Spicer Australia. Gears are readily avalable in Australia and i am in the process of possibly bringing some in. 3.07's, 3.23's, 3.46's (which is what we have), 3.73's and 3.91's.

Parts Cannot be swaped between Borg Warner rear and the M80
