As you may recall, I had my axle bolts fall out of the driver's side axle. No one knew what caused it, and all the blame was placed on my aftermarket tailpipe. Well, I'm not the only one, there are at least 3 others. Pontiac is still in denial of this problem, so I started a REGISTRY on LS1GTO, to show the trend. If you have had this problem please fill it out. If you have this problem in the future feel free to print out the details to help with dealers negative attitudes.

Their is a law that states the dealership MUST prove that the aftermarket change caused the malfunction before they can deny a warranty claim. IE: Unless the system that failed is directly related to the system modified, they cannot say the modification was the reason for the failure. Saying the drive shaft fell out because you have a K&N filter or an aftermarket exhaust is like saying your stereo failed because you played CD's in it.

Search the SEMA website for the exact law behind it, I used to have it bookmarked though. Print the page out and have a chat with the service manager at the dealership. If they refuse to fix the problem, inform them you will be calling the regional office and plan to file a complaint with the BBB. I'd be willing to bet they hop to it with much pleasure to keep from getting complaints issued against them. (A dirty record isnt in the dealerships best intrest.)
