: 2004 GTO HOOD OPTIONS
Seems as if there are currently quite a few options available at this time.
The ones I've ran across so far:
1)Arrowhead Performance V-Crest Hood
http://www.arrowheadperformance.com/images/hood/DSC00723.gif
2)GTO Scorpio Ram Air Hood
http://www.mpd-inc.net/Hood1.JPG
3)GTO Banshee Ram Air Hood
http://www.pfyc.com/supportfiles/silverbansheehood.jpg
4)SLP Performance Ram Air Hood
http://www.slponline.com/img/part_img/100195-1.jpg
5)RK Sport GTO Hood
http://www.lmperformance.com/images/parts/09011100.jpg
Any positives or negatives regarding these?
I know the Banshee doesn't have windshield washer fluid nozzle holes and they also don't recommend to have them installed........rather relocated to the plastic pieces behind the hood.
Kahn Man 09-14-2004, 09:55 AM I think I like the Scorpio the best, but the first one is truest to the GTO heritage. Just really boxy.
I was originally leaning towards the Banshee but now I'm thinking of going witht he Scorpio.
What hood does the 2005 GTO have on it??
realfred 09-15-2004, 03:56 AM what about this one :D
CSiJason 09-15-2004, 06:37 AM Heh, nice shot of the factory hood for 05
TandA 09-15-2004, 07:31 AM The factory '05 is the only one I'd want, the rest of those look nasty.

Where can I get a shot of it??
Nocturn 09-15-2004, 05:31 PM The 05 looks pretty muhc like the last black one only without the middle bulge comming down the hood, spread the scoops apart a bit and its about the same I think.
05 pic? (http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3223&stc=1)
Is this it???
Nocturn 09-15-2004, 05:41 PM Thats the one.
Goat Lover 09-16-2004, 12:03 AM Scorpio looks great! The AP looks pretty good too, then for my third choice i think the banshee looks pretty good...The rest im not shure about...Theyre okay but...eh...
Yeah...U know what i mean.
Maybe I'll just get the one from GM that's gonna be on the '05
Anyone know about how much the '05 one will cost??
Goat Lover 09-17-2004, 08:39 PM The hood comes with. Theres no extra price. There is a scoopless hood i huess but the delete option on the scoops may cost money (i dont know, thats just my guess)

That front is badass..
TheJizzer 09-23-2004, 08:22 PM The only hood I would put on my car at this time is the PFYC Banshee... Fully functional RamAir and HeatEx built in...
Cold air in -- Hot air out!!! worthy of the goat.
Not that any of the other hoods are no good -- just my $0.02 worth.
Howie 09-23-2004, 10:18 PM Seeing as the pic of our hood is no longer showing up on the first post:

Whitehall 09-25-2004, 10:11 PM Do any of these work?
That is, do they provide cool air to the intake filter?
Frankly, they seem pure ornamentation and zero function. I will grant that a few do add to the looks. However, I've always thought that GM's great styling strength was their sometimes ability to do smooth and clean so well.

Read the above posts.... yes they do work.
CSiJason 09-25-2004, 11:52 PM They work, as in functional. But they are not a true "ram air" to boost airflow into the engine. Then again, true ram air has its benifits and drawbacks.
Goat Lover 09-26-2004, 01:33 AM No ones talked bout this hood...
Fiberglass Ram Air X
http://www.twistdisc.com/id18.html
Nocturn 09-26-2004, 04:35 PM Thats actually a members car with that hood.. FYI.
Goat Lover 09-26-2004, 07:13 PM yeah, but its also a hood thats being sold from what i understand
Realm 10-10-2004, 02:47 PM scorpio hood looks like a biG!! 8===========> p*****
Goat Lover 10-10-2004, 06:32 PM It looks better than the RK Sport or SLP hoods IMO
Nocturn 10-10-2004, 09:04 PM Lol I know its being sold, I was just saying a member here has that car. :afro:
Goat Lover 10-10-2004, 09:12 PM Gotcha
I think I like the Banshee the most out of all of 'em now.
Anyone here have one on theirs?
It's either gonna be that one or the one that comes on the '05
Billygoatgruff 10-13-2004, 04:46 PM If you don't like what you can choose from and buy, you can always make your own.

100% Steel!!
68-PMD 10-19-2004, 02:06 AM i like the scorpio hood the best, probably because im an enthusiast of the 1968 GOATS and that hood really brings the mean agressive look of the '68-'69 GOATS
phobos512 10-19-2004, 06:09 PM I got the Banshee hood in carbon fiber this last weekend (Fri 10/15/04). Here are pics (if the pictures don't immediately show up, hit reload until they do...VERIZON SUCKS):

YellowGoatNick 10-19-2004, 06:26 PM I really like this one http://www.silverbulletpartners.com/sbp/cropped/profile.png
Im sure its not too functional but its still sweet.
Goat Lover 10-19-2004, 08:31 PM I like the one i drew on my dream goat when i was bored at school... Still gotta scan that thing.

Cool but does the carbon fiber look weird since it doesn't match the paint???
Maybe the picture just doesn't do it justice or something...........
thegreatone 11-01-2004, 06:12 PM who makes the banshee hoodscoop?
it looks swt as heck
I don't know why but the stock hood has really started to grow on me.
Unless the '05 hood just jumps out at me when I see it in person I may just stick with what I've got.

Looks bad-@$$, Phobos!
KMK454 11-09-2004, 05:49 PM They're nice, but the stock hood is much cleaner and classier. The car doesn't need any more nostrils or a pig-nose look like the ram-air Trans Ams of yore.
I don't think I'll ever understand the Pontiac Enthusiast's love for scoops... do some of you guys actually like the cladding on the older Grand Prix and Grand Ams?

I tend to agree with you TandA, but maybe that's because we're partial to our WS.6/Ram Air hood and the stock '05 closely resembles it. However, I'm beginning to really like the SLP GTO hood.
To answer your question KMK454 - Of course not. Just because someone prefers a couple hood scoops, doesn't mean they like body cladding. Nor does it mean they like a 2 foot wing that obstructs their view either. I guess by reverse, does that mean the owner of a Subaru Outback with all its cladding wishes they had a couple hood scoops? Probably not....

adearmas 11-21-2004, 09:36 PM Best aftermarket true sealed ram air with aniamted reaward ventilation I have seen is the AED central hood. Check it out at www.aedcentral.com It is not out yet and I believe it will be available sometime late December or January.

I remember these. They were on the 94-98 mustangs. Why put them on if they add no use. This is along the lines of rice. If it works and is useful, add it, if not leave it off. Have we learned nothing form the dark side. 99-02 hood scoops and side vents as well. Why!?!
Gravana Tuning 11-22-2004, 01:35 PM GRAVANA HOOD UNDERSIDE
For those of you who wanted to see pics of the underside of the Gravana GTO Hood:

This is ideal for those of you who want a 2005 hood, but with functional air vents and a 40% weight reduction. The Gravana Hood is in-stock and shipping!

That looks effeciant........
Personally I think it would be better to have the scoops feed straight into the engine bay and not bother trying to route it to the intake.
Use the air to cool the engine, not to feed it.
But thats just IMO.
redgtosamurai 11-28-2004, 03:10 PM I do like the graphics on the hood! :dribble:

I'm leaning more towards this same opinion.
Who knows though. Next month I may want a new hood again. :D

The 05 Hoods I have seen do not allow any air to enter the engine compartment. The scoops appear to be for looks and no function. (We will see when the 05's hit the lots!) That, along with the cheap-looking plastic inserts on the OEM hood, led to the building of the functional 05-style Gravana hood.

GRAVANA'S HOOD
I think if I end up getting an aftermarket hood I'll go with one that has holes for the wiper nozzles.
Re-routing them seems like a pain and would it work the same?

Re-routing is easy and the washers perform much better mounted on the wipers.
Ironically, most of the dealers that buy our hoods are telling me that is is simple to drill the hood and drop the OEM nozzles in. They are putting the nozzles we supply into their inventory to re-sell. LOL!
Food for thought.

A 97 Camaro Z28 hood? I think not. :D
anmracing 01-31-2005, 06:45 PM They all look good that's for sure.
The SLP looks like the 1971 GTO hood and the Scorpio and RK Sport look like the 1968-69 hoods.
