Zeta is the new platform/chassis that the GTO and some other future cars are going to be using. GM is set to adopt it to 3 other cars in its US market I believe.

Hey Branden,

not too much new is out that i am aware of, Holden just released the VZ model Commodore which is giving some style indications for the Zeta based VE.

For the Zeta platform itself, depending on how much talk is for real it should be doing the following...

1) provide SAAB with a long wheel base RWD platform for a new model
2) Continue to under pin the GTO
3) Be a base for the Buick Velite (spelling?) coupe that was shown i think in New York at the last motor show.
4) Be the most likely base for a chevy LWB RWD vehicle. (not sure which one)
5) Be able to support, RWD, AWD, LHD, RHD and if i recall correct have a longer wheel base variant (Caprice and Statesman down in Aus) and possibly be used on a slight shorter wheel base as well.
6) Holden will build exports for the Middle East, Asia and New Zealand. I believe the intent is to have the engineering exported to the US and not actual cars as Holden just can't produce the volume required in the USA, 18k GTO's a year on top of everything else is pushing the limits a bit.
7) The platform will go with the HFV6 and the new 5 speed auto that came out with the VZ Commodore, along with the LS2 V8, no word yet if the Australian cars will be LS1 for a while or if they will go straight to LS2, as GM doesn't want something better than the Corvette, Holden won't want anything out there that is too close to the HSV's in performance. Noting here that HSV is expected to announce its new models in the next few weeks based on the VZ and all going well they should have the LS2's.

I think thats about all I know....

the new torana's being built (hopefully) on a kappa platform?

Is this any relation to the zeta platform?
