Just wondering, pre-ordering aside, when the '05 GTOs will be available in the states? When are the people who are pre-ordering expecting their cars to arrive?

I think at least some people have been working with dealerships already to get pre-orders in.

Preorders are being accepted, but 05 production started only a little while ago, they have to make a certain amount, then ship them over here, then send them out to their prospective dealers/pre-orders and then any non pre orders will be available to the public. I would say winter or so approximately.

According to VMA, my '05 was built last week and is 'estimated' to arrive 10/19. But I doubt I'll see it before Dec.

Did you get a VIN? Did anyone tell you what you'll be paying for it?

I don't believe a VIN is assigned until the vehicle reaches the US...and no pricing info has been released yet.

FYI...VMA now shows my delivery date as 11/17. Anyone know when the '04s started hitting the lots?

Remember that pre-orders have nothing to do with when you get them. This was a common misconception with the 04's. Your pre-order is for that dealers alotment and their alotment can come in at anytime. I think the longest that one of us had to wait for an 04 pre-order was 8 months, ordered in August and received in April. Many like myself gave up on our pre-orders and bought one from a dealer that had already received one.

o so there's a chance that there will be other '05s on the lot before your pre-ordered one gets in?? that's kinda goofy.

No, not according to the GM regional rep and the sales manager...but we'll see what happens.

I believe they would have to travel faster than the speed of light to get to the dealers by November. They may hit Benecia in November.

When I was ordering mine today, the dealer (who happens to be the owners son) informed me that one they had already on order was produced this week. Of course that means it'll be on a lot for a month or two while they build enough to ship over which will also take awhile. I'm willing to bet the first 05's might hit lots sometime in December at the soonest. He still doesnt have any pricing info on it though.

Just got back from SEMA...spent a good 45 min picking the brain of the GTO product development 'guru' (can't recall his name)....but he had lots of interesting things to say, some of which we already know, but thought I'd share some of the things we talked about.

1) Delivery...if your '05 has been built (TPW, Import vehicle produced), the first ship has already left for Benecia, CA. Expect them to hit dealers by mid Dec., with more orders to be fulfilled in January.

2) The Autocross body kit is, for certain, a dealer installed option but I don't know what that means for those of you that have already ordered w/that option.

3) The 18" wheels have still not been finalized...he said they will eventually be available, but didn't know when, or what they will look like.

4) Another individual (GM marketing) said the price has gone up by approx $500

5) The hood scoops were moved forward to an area that develops high pressure at speed...intentionally. (RAM AIR anyone?) He stated this option was dropped due to cost, but hinted that 'someone' would pick up where GM left off.

6) The fuel tank, and subsequent tiny trunk, remain unchanged.

7) The '05 on display had a carbon fiber interior appearance package (looked pretty good), but it was unclear if/when it will become avail.

8) The 4 tip exhaust autocross body kit requires the use of different mufflers.

9) The cluster package looked identical to me, with the exception of the revised redline...but this vehicle was an early build (no dead pedal, but GM has stated it will be there)

Overall, I think everyone who decided to wait will be extremelly pleased, but I guess that depends on how bad those evil, evil dealers (**** free market system!) treat this vehicle...

Great feedback...

So was the carbon fiber trim kit REAL carbon fiber or just fakey junk? Did it appear to replace the entire console pieces (Molded hard carbon pieces) or just a stick over the factory trim deal? (Flat flexable sheets die cut)

Hmm, I wonder who they had in mind to pick up where they left off on the ram air deal? Hmm........... That'd be spiffy if it wasnt too expensive and dropped in easily. (More so if it made good gains.)

That's a good question Jason, but I didn't take a close enough look to give you a good answer...I had other things (lS2/T-56!) on my mind...regardless, I thought it made for different look, a better one if someone was looking to upgrade their goat's interior. It was a bit on the 'ricey' side for my taste, but I think there'll be plenty of interest.

BTW...the 'JUSTICE' that has been promoted on this site, is one nasty machine! It looks even more like a 'stang in person, IMO, but is still a great looking interpretation...with a blown LS2=525+hp (if I recall correctly)! We'll have to wait and see what the $ looks like.

And one other thing...of all the 8 or so GTOs I saw (1 '05), including a 455 Judge interpretation, every vendor had center high dash gauge packs...I think we'll all (04s/05s) have lots of options!
