18 inch wheel and tire option DELETED?

Pulled this off the Dealerworld site.

Anyone else hear the 18 inch wheel and tire option being deleted? I thought it was being put off until November.

Effective 9/13/2004, the following changes will be made to the Vehicle Order Guide:


* Exterior section-Deleted (QUG) Tires, P235/40ZR18, summer only tire entirely.
* Exterior section-Deleted (N87) Wheels, 18" x 8" (43.2 cm), 5-spoke aluminum entirely.

I then proceded to check the ordering options and saw the 18 inch combo wasn't there either. Has this been scrubbed?

I read somewhere that they are going to make them available at dealerships as an accessory rather than an option at the time of buying the car. The only side effect to that would be the fact dealerships will mark them in price up greatly.

Earlier posts from the GM Dealer site links, said that the option would be remove from the order guides until it was available to order around November. I have seen this posted a couple times, I think. I have seen the one post that says that the 18" are being shifted to dealer installed options. If done this way, they still will have a recommended price from GM, so it sould control cost that way.

That means you won't be able to use them in stock classes while autocrossing, though. Too bad, though 17" racing tires are a lot cheaper.
