yeah it's pretty bad. my Tahoes range was really good. Not sure what the problem is with the GTO's range.

Between 10 and 20 feet is the common range when there are no obstructions. It is really limited in the goat. I think this has more to do with the built in fob in the key than the actual car itself.

You could lock and unlock the doors on my Avalanche from the next county especially when the flat battery is fresh in the keyfob.

Actually, I can get over 50 feet - but it's tricky. It seems like the reciever is in the rear window antenna - so I get better range from behind the car instead of in front. Then, it seems that the higher the fob is, the more range you get. If I hold it up at about head level or just above, I can get huge improvements in distance.

That's one of the few things that I dislike about the GTO. The key, with the built in fob, looks very awkwad and seems, just from the design, that the range is very limited. Is there a way to have an ordinary key cut and have an external key fob. Like in most GM cars and trucks?

I dont really mind. But I guess if Im 30ft away from the car no one is gonna see my unlock it and run to steal it. But yes I noticed it too.
