Heh, I've been trying to get an out the door price on a 2005 for two months now! Best estimates seem to be putting the '05 MSRP at roughly around $1000-$1500 more than the '04.

Motortrend lists the 05 GTO in the latest mag as an estimated MSRP of $32,495 which seems right about where the 04's were. Something tells me Pontiac wont push their luck by upping the price seeing as sales were sluggish until prices dropped significantly on 04's.

Thats exactly what it will be.

the 32,495 is the current price, its going to raise by about a grand. GM isn't pushing its luck because it has the warrent for the price. If you mean by is poor sales, then thats simply if dealers choose to screw people over again.

This is true... I suppose the more dealers accept the fact the car isnt the huge seller they expected it to be, the more likely they will be to deal vs marking them way up.

Awesome, looks like I can set my goals for the 05 then =)

Thanks again =)

I posted in another section of this forum about possibly looking to purchase an 05 GTO this spring. I am amazed that dealers are holding out for MSRP on any 04 or 05. When I bought my 2003 Silverado SS back in 2003 I got 12,000 off of sticker, that was in the summer, so I was still in the same model year. I bought that truck for 28,999. I guess it just all depends on the dealer, I am sad to say that my Chevy dealer doesnt also sell Pontiacs.

i called a dearship close to me that had an ad for an 04 that they wanted 26,995 , i already have a gto but i wanted to see what they would say which they gave me a WHOLE different price on it and they didnt even have one on the lot but i asked about the 05 and they said same price as the 04 when it came out and a 1000 rebate ,
but this is the dealership where i tried to buy my goat from at first which at first they didnt believe me that i wanted one or could afford one i guess since im young , and then they wanted to add 6000 bucks ontop of msrp after i ordered it then they didnt even order what i want after i found that out i told them to p-off and that day i called another dealership they JUST got in what i wanted silver m6 at msrp so i took it .
But i think they r gonna start at $37,995

37,995!!!! Holy Sh@t!!!! Where did you find that out? That's quite a jump above 32,495.

Still can't wait to test drive the hell out of them, though! :D

No chance. Unless they just don't want to sell any at all.

Think about it: the only reason for them to be so hush-hush over the 05 pricing is because they want to clear out the 04s. If the 05 price were $38k they'd clear out the 04s BLOODY QUICK just by announcing it. Their strategy suggests either that MSRP for the 05 isn't going to be much higher than the 04 (in fact, it might be lower) or they aren't sure yet because they're waiting to see what the exchange rates will be.

(FYI, MSRP on the 04 was originally supposed to be lower -- like around $30k -- but the currency rates went the wrong way.)

ROFL No kidding... I'd either buy an 04 before they sold out or i'd go buy my next favorite car instead which is a good deal less expensive. (It'd be about $32k out the door for an 05. Same as a new GTO should be.) Nobody in their right mind would be willing to shell out $38k for a new GTO when they can either drop a bit more and get a new C6 or one of thew few C5's left on lots or even any number of high end luxo imports such as the G35, BMW 3 series, etc for less money.

$37,995 i was told by a exit 132 pontiac here in wv but they probably put a couple thousand on the msrp im guessing thats what they did for the 04 .....

Seeing as how the Corvette is all new and actually dropped in price, I would find it hard to believe that a slow selling GTO with minor improvements (other than the LS2) would cause a significant price increase. I think it will stay within a few hundred bucks of the 2004 models.

Still unbelievable that they quoted you a price of 37,995. Here's my point: Who the hell is going to pay close to 38K for a car putting it close to 41,000 after tax, title, license, and other bs? Worse Yet!!!! What if you finance??? :pain: :bs:

No way. They can't sell the '04's at 32,000------38,000 is a rediculous price. Nobody will pay that. You might as well buy a new 'vette. Where are you located so that I know where to NEVER shop for a car?

Again, I have herd from reputable srouces it will be $1000 or less more than the 04. If your getting quotes of 37, the dealer is trying to add on his "dealers" fee. I suggest finding a different dealer for 05s.

I would guess about 1000. Im not sure how much more exp*****ve an LS2 would be over an LS1 but probably a few hundred. The hood scoops and new exhaust would be a few hundred, and those are pretty much the changes. They probably could get the 05 to be more than 1000 more than the 04 but people complained about the 04s pricing so they wont go more than 1000 higher.
Nocturn, do you have any plans on buying an 04 or 05 GTO?

As a concession - I belive GM will sell the 2005 GTO for 1 to 2 thousand L E S S than than the 04 model. Remember I am the only one saying this... This will be a smart move for Pontiac...Lutz is no fool...although it is hard to tell nowadays...This would be a move to "reposition" the car for YOUNGER buyers...the old timers have rejected the car outright...they are not the target market..this makes it easier for pontiac to go for the kill at the younger buyer who eyed and buyed the the car at $29,000.00 last year (2004)...

Luts doesn't want this car targeted towards teens and kids, then it will get the same reputation the firebird did, and they DONT want that. They will keep it above 30K for that exact reason. It may dip down with insentives but not MSRP. Trust me on this, 1000 grand more or less.

I would love to get a 04, or an scoopless 05 for that matter, but as it stands im not in a position to get a new one just yet. :( :afro:

Does anyone find it odd that here we are, in the middle of November, and we do not have OFFICIAL MSRP info for the 2005? How many 2005 MY vehicles sold in the U.S. do not have this information released by now? What makes the GTO so special?

I'm tired of waiting for this basic financial information.

Quite simply put -- Too many 04s still on dealer lots.

They do not want to kill any 05 sales by pricing as well as they do not want to get "stuck" with too many unsold 04s.

Politics of a Large Company - Cause you bet your a** by now they know how much they are going to charge for them.

Unless (by some dumb luck) they are in internal negotiations on lowering the MSRP to compete with vehicles like the Stang. But I highly doubt it.

A GM marketing manager, whom I spoke with at SEMA, said the price increase would be around $500. I'll take his word over anything I've heard on this site.

I'v said numerous times that the price will increas $550-$1000 over 04 MSRP.

The isnt the basic information out because like he said they are waiting for 04 sales, and also they are waiting for the debut, most likely at the NAIAS this year, but that and because tere arn't any 05s here yet.
