FYI,

I only recently found out about this but Fram makes a product called "sure drain" which replaces your stock oil pan plug. Then when you want to go and change your oil you connect the small hose they provide you and drain the oil. No need to remove the plug, and the oil won't drain until the hose is connect, all you need to do is aim the hose at the pan to collect the oil.

Of course i wouldn't be telling you this if they didn't have one for the GTO... its model SD4. I have installed it on both of our vehicles... and will finally get to test it on the Focus in a few weeks, we just put it on the Ranger this past weekend.

Now if only the oil filter on the Ranger was more accessible...

Fram Website (http://www.fram.com) - look under Products then Accessories and scroll to the bottom. (stoopid site won't allow a direct link)

looks like a good product. I am going to put one on my 01 XJ. I take the goat to J-Lube, but do the XJ myself.

I don't like Fram...their oil filters are cardboard inside, therefore in my mind all Fram is ****, lol

I tried the sure drain and it works but it takes a very long time for the oil to drain.
I tossed mine in the garbage after the second oil change.

It may go faster if you take the oil cap off the engine, air pressure and such.

I added that to my Grand Am...very easy and almost no mess. The only mess was from taking of the oil filter.
Yes, take off the oil cap before draining...much much quicker! ;)

Mike D--J Lube as in Jiffy Lube? If it is Jiffy Lube, do you know what brand oil they are putting in and who makes the filter and is it their spec. or standard, off the shelf spec filter? If not Jiffy Lube, forget the question. The reason I ask is that quick change oil and lube places quite often use their own spec filters which are not the same quality (as in lower) than what you buy off the shelf.
