Hey guys and gals I am going to the Bob Boundarant Driving School November 10th and 11th for the 2005 Pontiac GTO Introduction. I am going as a representative of NewAgeGTO. If anyone has any questions other than price and when they are available I will be more than happy to take the questions down and ask the engineers when I see them. I will be taking some pictures of the car, and supposedly there are going to be some other cool GM/Pontiac cars there to show us. I will keep you guys posted but any of you guys or gals that are waiting for an 05 and have any questions let me know. I will try to get the answer for you.

Nocturn 10-28-2004, 05:54 PM If you could, find out if the delivery system has been improved at all for those who preordered theirs, OH and also find out what the deal is with the autocross packages, if they are being deleted or simply turned into dealer options...same with the 18" wheels.
Thanks Z.
thegreatone 10-28-2004, 08:38 PM I would like to learn more about this ls2, whats exactley so great about it, and what kind of improvements has been made to reach the 400hp output.
- one more thing, is it 400hp at the wheels or at the crank?

well it is a 6.0 so that has alot to do with it.
Its at the crank. The C6 is rated at 400hp but at the wheels it got around 360. that mens around 420 at the crank. I dunno what the GTO will make. They could of de tuned it. I doubt that though.
Nocturn 10-28-2004, 09:07 PM LS2 details
Compared to the Gen III-based LS1, the 2005 GTO’s LS2 V-8 incorporates several significant changes to help improve performance. The block is an all-new casting with cylinder bores measuring 4.00 inches (101.6 mm) in diameter. The cylinder heads and camshaft are revised, too, to deliver the airflow necessary to complement the engine’s larger displacement. Other changes include:
New aluminum block casting with revised oil galleries and provisions for external knock sensors – external sensors improve serviceability
Camshaft lift increased to take advantage of increased cylinder head flow
Camshaft sensor relocated from the rear of the block to the front of the block provides room for new oil galleries
Flat-top piston design with lower ring tension reduces friction
Piston floating wrist pins help quiet the engine
More efficient ignition coils require less energy to provide a comparable spark
Compression raised to 10.9:1
Larger, 90-mm single-blade throttle body
Reduced-mass water pump design with improved sealing capability
Engine “redline” raised to 6500 rpm
Revised and more powerful engine controller incorporates all electronic throttle control functions
Those are the main details. more info is in the 2005 GTO details.
formula79 10-28-2004, 09:27 PM Ask Jaso lots of questions! He is going in my place since I can't make it out there!
Ask them if it will launch with rebates!
TheJizzer 10-28-2004, 10:01 PM I know... for real... ask them if the truley think it is a better buy than the 04. Or if it just your average improvement like any new year release.
I am really curious of that reply
CSiJason 10-29-2004, 05:56 AM Are their any changes to the drivetrain for 05? (Beefier axles, CV shafts, differential, transmission components?)
Is the shifter the same as 04 or revised for smoother shifts?
Has the suspension been altered at all? (Any improvement in the 'wheel hop' issues?)
What is the MSRP going to be?
Will their be a Judge version in the next year or two perhaps?
Should I smoke the doors off new Mustang GT's or just point and laugh? :hysterical:
Gaijin 10-29-2004, 06:36 AM everyone's pretty much got the most wanted questions already...just tell 'em Gai says Hi!...from HI... :P

Gaijin- where in Hawai'i do you live?
I'm a Hawai'i expat, raised in Hilo on the Big Island, later in Kailua on O'ahu (graduated from Kalaheo High School)...frikkin' miss it.
"Kailua ha'oles...da wors' kine."
CSiJason 10-29-2004, 06:27 PM Oh yea, is the clutch upgraded for 05? (Same as C6 or same as 04 GTO or different all together?)
And will all the known TSB's for 04's be corrected on the 05 production models?
Orbit Orange 10-29-2004, 11:39 PM Why have 0-60 quoted times got the A4 running quicker than the M6?
Has the A4 tranny been beefed up to support the 395 lb/ft torque of the LS2 over the 365 of the LS1?
Thanks! :)
GTPprix 10-31-2004, 10:02 AM EDIT: Forget it no use ROFL
jbernie 10-31-2004, 02:08 PM I have two questions...
1) Will the stereo have the voluem control on the drivers side this time? :)
2) Will we get the dual zone climate control?
James
fastcop 10-31-2004, 03:53 PM Ask if they might consider adding additional gauges to the cluster, like the most mentioned/demanded; oil pressure and voltmeter(?). Maybe even a dealer add on....

This is being covered by the aftermarket at SEMA, so I hear...

Yup...I am pretty sure you will have a few choices!

I can probably answer that for you. None of the interior pieces will be changed. The steering wheel will be the same and there will be one zone climate control, but I will ask but I don't think the choices you brought up will be offered.
fastcop 11-02-2004, 03:44 PM Geesh, you're making it hard to come up with questions.... B) ok, find out if they'd consider a "stealth mode", or how bout oil slick!!!!! Like "Spy Hunter" :hysterical:
DANSLS1 11-02-2004, 04:01 PM Oh, and there will be a different font on the gages.
Have the 18" wheels been kept or eliminated as a dealer / factory option?
Have they considered a spoiler delete option?
Factory fill with mobil 1 (or other synth)?
3 yr / 36k warranty or different?
Dan
04GOATGERM 11-02-2004, 04:15 PM Shift light?

ROFL LOL, yea the seat motor is a little slow... Ok, I could hand crank it with a screwdriver faster!
How about HID option, or any other dealer installed options for that matter?

Anything ever come of this???
I am working on it. The information can not be released until Dec.1
droopy 11-16-2004, 06:44 PM I'd like to know how they did the dead pedal in the 05. I noticed on my 96 Camaro SS that the dead pedal is made into the driver's side kick panel. If they did something similar to the 05 GTO then my biggest disappointment on the 04 might be easily rectified.

Yes there will be a dead pedal for 2005.
gto72 11-22-2004, 02:54 PM Can you ask Pontiac why they cancelled the optional "Sport Appearance Package"? It was on constraint and now the Dealer tells me it can't be added to my order because the option has been cancelled? No optional 18 inch wheels and tires either?
