Not very often but every now and again during quick exceleation a feel the gas pedal as if it was hitting a detent. Like all the return spring pressure is suddenly released but immediately re-engages. Has anyone had a similar throttle experience???

Do you mean that it is as if the gas pedal is immovable for a moment or as if it is pushing back against your foot pehaps?

Just for a second, it feels like the pedal is free floating but only 1/4 to 1/2 " travel, then immediately back to normal.

Explain what you mean by "free-floating"? Are you saying that it feels as if there were no resistance to your foot pushing down, like it moves too easily for a moment?

Nope - but if it turns out that your throttle cable tensioner is bad, save the cover for me please. Mine broke and you can't buy just the cover and the tensioner is like $650.

Do you have the traction control ON or OFF?
If on, your Goat will do it if it senses wheelspin.
Happens to me all the time when I forget to turn the TC off.
I believe it is called a throttle position "relaxer" and is very normal.
Hope that helps. :D

The same thing happens to me all the time but I look down and notice the traction control is flashing on the display.

Orbit Orange, I believe has it right. It has only occurred with TC on. I'll have to run it through the paces with TC off for awhile to see if still happen. Thanks for all the feedback!!! :)

That was my first thought but I would describe it as pushing back rather than as "free-floating"! That's why I was trying to get more info from you about the feeling...
What are the benfits and disadvantages of traction control?

The benefits of Traction Control is that if you accelerate to fast on wet pavement, instead of spinning into the next lane, you will simply feel the car let off the gas and it will stay in a straight line. Now the disadvantages, well if you own a new GTO you can simply turn it off, so really there is no disadvantages if you dont want there to be any.

Really cool function that works great in the snow also! I also had it on my Grand Am. Worked like a charm...could also turn it off. ;)
