Well I lined up next to a Mazda 6 yesterday coming home from work so I figured I'd give her a go. We ran through about 55 until we started catching traffic up and both slowed. I was about 1/2 a car behind - front of my car at about 1/2 way down the door.

Good thing I was in the '95 Saturn or I'd feel **** embarassed...

I sold my 6 a week after getting the GTO. I loved the color, Redfire Metallic, it shifted smoother, was easier to get in and out of, and got around 22 MPG versus 14. But I don't miss it! They have no torque, but are OK once you get them up around 3500 rpm. Was going to wait for the Mazdaspeed version, but didn't want a four banger turbo when I could get an American V-8.
