: SUNROOFS
I went back to my dealership to get my complimentary free first oil change the other day.
They had quite a few GTO's left on the lot.
One of 'em had a sunroof installed on it. It was a black on black one just like mine. It looked great.
They had an extra $1195 tacked on to the normal price for the sunroof.
I'm wondering if I should get one or not. If so, should I use the same aftermarket place the dealership did?
Anyone know much about sunroofs and the postitives and negatives of having one installed on a GTO??
YellowGoatNick 12-06-2004, 02:48 PM pics?
I guess I could drive up there and take a few.
BRMike 12-06-2004, 03:02 PM How big of a hole was cut into the GTO's roof? I'd love to have a sunroof, but it would take a lot of convincing to let someone install one. Leaks, rattles, structural integrity? These are factors to consider.
It was pretty big.
It looked sharp.
I couldn't see inside of it good enough because the windows were tinted but I wonder what they do with the dome lights?
TandA 12-06-2004, 08:54 PM I'd be a little nervous about someone cutting a hole in a brand new car. GM needs a moonroof from the factory.
True.
Hell I dunno. I just want some stuff to set it apart from others without G-Ridin' it out ya know??

Yep. I know what you mean...we have the same colors. Was it a pop up or electric sliding?
ram09 12-06-2004, 10:24 PM I have seen a sunroof on a new GTO it was from one of the companies that make a different hood for the GTO. I think it is the company that makes the Ram Air X hood but I am not sure.

It was an electric sliding one.
GTO1_OHIO 12-07-2004, 11:07 PM I'm having a power inbuilt sunroof installed this week. A Webasto Hollandia 710,
glass/pannel 33 1/2 x 18 3/4, Opening 26 3/4 x 10, The unit is almost identical in functionality to the OEM sunroof in my wife's 2003 GrandAm GT. With installation I'm paying ....$1250. There were about 10 shops installing this brand in northeast Ohio. I probably could have gotten it cheaper but the one I went with had already installed two in GTOs for dealers. I sure didn't want to be someones first time installation! From what I could find out from my dealer this was supposed to be the OEM supplier down under. I anyone wants I can have post pictures posted this weekend after I pick it up.

Yes...I want to see it. :)
Gotta love the guinea pig.
mrmike 12-08-2004, 08:39 PM The Webasto sunroof available here is the same one Holden installs at the factory. It's actually nicer than any GM sunroof I've had.
TrueBlueGTO 12-12-2004, 09:30 PM Ya GOTTA get a sunroof in these cars. Also have them install the auto dimming mirror with outside temp and compass...you won't regret it!!

GTO1_OHIO 12-15-2004, 06:49 PM New pics of the sunroof are in my garage photos. Looks great, sounds great...this car was born to have this inbuilt sunroof...GM needs to wake up and offer more options.
As for Eyes little comment: No guts...no glory!
scot254 12-15-2004, 11:12 PM Webasto sunroofs are NICE. Used to work for a wholesaler. They will still give to me at cost, so I am considering.
GTO1_OHIO, I knew it would look good on the outside, how does it look on the inside? Can you get a picture?
Also
Thats a new model than I know of, did it come with a sun-deflector slid? Texas gets a little hot in the summer.
GTO1_OHIO 12-15-2004, 11:21 PM Yes, it comes with a sliding sunshade. I have some interior pictures posted in my garage photos...but they came out a little dark. If you go to the Webasto web site
http://www.webastoshowroom.com/pontiac_gto_710.htm they have interior pictures.
scot254 12-15-2004, 11:34 PM Thanks GTO1_OHIO, went to the site.
If you could email the pics I won't critic on photography skills at all. I've got a black GTO also, just want to see as much as I can before going through with.
Would really appreciate.
TrueBlueGTO 12-16-2004, 12:58 AM Just felt like posting some pics of my sunroof.
