: Looks like dealers are being jacka**es again......
integrillin 12-07-2004, 03:39 PM About 3 months ago I test drove an '04 GTO and instantly knew I was going to buy this car (even though the battery died after 200 ft and needed a jump in the turning lane). I had heard rumors of the improvements on the '05 and decided to wait. I asked the salesman to call me as soon as he had pricing info available so we could hammer out a deal............
So I call him yesterday. He didn't know pricing was available on the '05 until I told him. I said ok, let's talk about price. He tells me, "Well, we're probably gonna price it $5-8k over MSRP (!!!) at first like we did last year. We sold 2 at $8k over last year."
My response was, "And you'll have 15 left on the lot in September again." He wasn't too thrilled with that comment, claiming all the '04s are sold (even though I still see 2 on the lot) and refused to give me a price without talking with his superiors.
Are all the dealers like this? Are enough people stupid enough to pay over $41000+ for a car that will be worth about $25k once they drive it off the lot? Guess I'll have to wait until next September........
H2ONOW 12-07-2004, 04:07 PM Here is a response I got from a loocal dealer in the area.
I asked for a quote for the o5 with the auto x Kit.
They responded with.
The MSRP on the 2005 GTO with 6speed and Auto body kit installed would be $35,685.
And any rebates and incentives that are in effect at time of delivery will apply toward the purchase price.

Nocturn 12-07-2004, 04:19 PM 35K sounds about MSRP for the autoX kit added on. I hope that dealers don't act like this on a whole as it drives off customers and gives the GTO a poor selling record. You dont see other dealerships acting like this. It never surprises me how greedy american car dealers are, its disgusting. They can easily put them 100 bucks over MSRP and sell 8x as many as 1 at 800 over MSRP but they wont and its disgusting.
CSiJason 12-07-2004, 06:19 PM I am 100% prepaired to tell my dealership to suck a fat egg if they try to push the car on me over MSRP. Their are a dozen Pontiac dealerships in my area, all will have cars ready to roll in the next month. At least one will be willing to make a deal. (Hell, i'd pay MSRP if they dont jerk me around on financing too.)
Hey guys and gals why don't you give me a try. I have many satisfied customers on this board and I know that I can make anyone of you a satisfied customer as well. I have sold plenty of GTOs outside of my area and delivered them without hiccup. I am ready when you are.

formula79 12-07-2004, 07:29 PM Jason is great...I highly recommend him, and not just cause he is a sponsor.
CSiJason 12-07-2004, 10:00 PM So Jason, you can beat MSRP or offer very low financing for another Jason? ;)
Omologatu 12-07-2004, 10:54 PM I stopped by the local Pontiac dealer today, and talked a little about the 05s. Theyve still got 2 04s on the lot, but the guy claimed they had some 05s on the way (although he knew less about the car than me, so whether thats true or not who knows) I gave them my name and number and they claim theyll call me when they get an 05 in. Im pretty sure they learned their lesson last year, because the silver 04 has been there literally all year, it was the first they had in, and its still there.

O M G...here we go again. :jumpon:
Foster'sguy 12-07-2004, 11:56 PM Went to my local dealership yesterday to have them check out the damage they caused the LAST time I was there, and while they were putting some undercoating on the floorpan I checked out the showroom. Not a GTO in sight or on the lot. The one sales guy I spoke to didn't have any numbers for the 05's, but said the only 04's to be had were dealer trades. When I was there a few weeks ago they had 6 on the lot, so somebody is joining our ranks! As a matter of fact, the salesman told me he was supposed to be delivering a yellow GTO that afternoon and it hadn't come in yet.
integrillin 12-08-2004, 12:45 AM Jason, do you deliver to Long Island, NY?
