What is the best cold air intake to use on 2004 GTO/AT ?

I am having a Loudmouth Cat-Back installed as well ....

will this combination run OK ?

or are there other mods I will need to do to make run OK...

I just want to get a little noise, and breath better ...

Personaly, I plan on getting the LPE (Lingenfelter) intake for my 05 GTO so long as they offer one that fits the LS2. The fit of their kit looks best to me IMO, and add in the fact it cures the IAT sensor being located directly behind the radiator, it should eliminate false intake temp readings causing excessive ignition retard.

Does the K&N have that false intake temp problem?

Lingenfelter is so over rated in my opinon.

As far as performance upgrades go for the GTO, MTI is the company in my opinon.

The K&N is molded plastic. That alone discourages me from it. The big cutout bump in the front for the radiator shroud is also disturbing since you want a smooth even flow with as little disturbance between the filter and intake as possable. LPE's kit uses wrapped silicone rubber which is generaly smooth bore and nice and round. This allows for more flex from the engine movements without pulling anything around so much or making underhood rattles and such.

The K&N has the intake temp probe located in the side of the tube just about where it is stock. The LPE kit moves it to the back side of the oversized K&N filter inside the protected airbox area.

The only thing overrated about the LPE kit is the price which is rather expensive. But with anything else, generaly you are buying quality and quality is often worth the extra cost. (Heck, if that wasnt the case we would all be rolling Mustang GT's right now huh? :hysterical: )

Yes...but I don't think one is made for the '04 yet. There is a hand held programmer that can be used "DiabloSport PredatorTuner".

I'm with CSiJason on this. Lingenfelter makes a really high quality product. Interestingly, if you take some of the others out there, then mod to truly isolate the filter from the engine, put a high quality, non-heat absorbing connector to the MAF and relocate the IAT, you are at least at the cost of the Lingenfelter if not higher. They have started bringing the price down a bit, too, by the way. Not a lot but in the right direction.

LPE has the highest quality and will probably give you the best gains. I would go with the K&N if the LPE is too expensive. Use that with your loudmouth exhaust and a dyno-tune and it will wke that goat up!

I just installed my K&N kit today. Great fit and finish, cake install and pretty good gains from my SOTP meter. Ive had the K&N before and have never been disappointed.
