The US car makers seem to stick to the base coat/ clear coat while some makers outside the reach of the EPA use a better quality paint that will hold up better to UV. Is the paint on the GTO any different than the US painted cars?

Love is blind, but I'm not. The paint chips and scratches easily. Have found some quality control issues, but don't care. Would still rather have this car than any other GM product produced in recent memory.

Is any paint color easier to touchup than another? My preference for the 05 is black followed by red. I've never owned a black car before but I've always been pretty anal about keeping my cars clean and waxed.

My 04 is Black. We've had some rain off and on lately, and since I drive about 90 miles a day, the car gets pretty dirty. I end up washing it about 2 or 3 times a week.

I've owned one black car in my life, and it will be the first and last. Looks great clean and new, but neither of those things last forever. Got to the point where I hated to wax it, as when I was done the wax would get caught in every little rock chip or nick and look like a bunch of white spots. Yuck!

Black is a PITA and one of the reasons I switched to silver. Black looks clean 15 minutes a week and dirty the balance.

Holdens use a imersion dip primes followed by an undercoat then a two pack style polyurethane top coat. It' very resistant to fading after all Australian summers are very hot. :type:
