on the superchips web site they released a new computer tuning device for the 04 gto ls1 engine specs on the site reads as follows:

hp gain 23.4@ 4900 rpm

torque gain 25lbs@ 4900 rpm

peak hp 14.6 @ 5700 rpm

torque 16.7 @4200 rpm

from what i read compared to the hypertech unit believe this gives more power and torque comparing the 2 units. i believe the price will be around the 350-400 dollar range which is cheap $$$$$ for the upgraded performance. check their site out and it will go into detail on all the other features it does as well.

This is #4 that I have counted for "home" custom tuning... :D

That is nice that we have so many options.

1. Preditor
2. Superchips
3. HP tuners
4. ODBII Edit (The website is at work I will get it Monday)

They all do basically the same thing. Modify the PCM program.

i have never used one of these before as all the imports that i had before you had to remove the ecu and send it out . one of the computer guru's told me that if you are going to use the car just for ''street fun '' than this would be the best way to go with out having to well get your fingernails dirty and the amount of performance gains is pretty good. i'm glad that i got back inot the musclecar type cars as there is no diffference in the thrill factor comparing a v6 to a v8. have you ever used one of these computer upgrades with any of your cars??????

I have never used a "self" programmer. I have always bought aftermarket PCMs...but with the LS1 it is easy to come by self programmers because there are so many aftermarket performance mods that a general upgrade would not work.

If you are going to do mods on your car I would suggest you get one that has a lot of features. After reading HPTuners website and beings I have a laptop I am most likely going to get their program. That way if I do any upgrades I can tune the car on the spot.

Now I am by far not saying that just because you buy the program you can tune a car - but doing some reading and testing I bet you can tune it pretty good.

As for the Superchips - after reading their website, if you plan on a few mods or stock this unit will give some decent gains.
