Well, I just got notice that GM is doing their AutoShow in Motion again this year. First stop Los Angeles area. They are doing events in Pomona, Ingelwood and Irvine. The big news though is that they will have a fleet of '05 GTO's on hand for us to play with. The other good news is that the show roams around the country, so everyone will get a shot to flog an '05 GTO. I'm planning on going, need to see how the '05 compares to the '04.

It's a class event, no sales people, just knowledgeable product people. They even provide a free box lunch, which consists of sandwich, chips and soda. They encourage whole families to attend and even provide carseats for the littleones. It's a great opportunity to drive lots of cars and trucks with no pressure to buy or find out how the family fits in a particular car.

I went in ’04 to the one in Inglewood - it's what got me into (soon) my ’05. I never would have considered a goat if I hadn't had the chance to take one on a test course.

I went in 04 also but didnt see the GTO until I was already on my way out but I did take the Z06 for a spin. Otherwise, it was well worth going IMO. The earlier in the day you go, the better... It was quite crouded the day I went but I enjoyed it anyhow.

I went to ASIM in Pomona yesterday and drove one of 4 available *2004* GTOs. There was not a 2005 in sight. They even had a 2004 A4 GTO on a Dyno that my girlfriend got to pilot on a simulated 1/4mi. run. That was pretty cool. I could have lived with an M6 2004 GTO but since I can afford a 2005 and this is my first NEW car ever I can only hope to be more impressed with the extra ponies under the hood.

Yeah, I was disappointed about the lack of '05 GTOs at the Pomona event. I was told that they would have the 05's at the Inglewood event, which is in a couple of weeks.

I did drive the '04 again. Took a yellow 6M for a spin. I laughed when I got to the line and the guy asked me what the right pedel was for. Duh! It's the go pedeal! Then he asked what he left pedal was and I told him it's the clutch, he said, "wrong, it's for nothing once you are moving, you can't shift on this course."

Well, I proved him wrong. Almost redlined 1st gear before the first corner and then nailed it hard on exit and got into second before having to literally stand on the brakes and pray I didn't blow the corner. The ABS did it's job admirably and I negociated the corner under full braking. Got on the gas again, but had caught up to the slowpoke in front of me by that point, so my fun was over.

Then I went and drove the C6 vette with the LS2 and a 6 spd. **** was that thing fast. Lots more responsive and noticeably more lowend grunt than the LS1.

Do they ever have these outside of California?

Yeah, they do them all over the country. Check the website, they will list locations and dates as they are scheduled.
