Got a call from a local salesman today who tried to sell me an 04 about 5 months ago. Back then, I hassled him over the price of the 04 but the ******* wouldn't go down under $30,000!! Of course I had all the rebates and GM card stuff, so I bought my 04 GTO elsewhere for $27,000 in August. But anyways, back when I was hassling him on the deal of the 04 I keep telling him, "the 05 is coming out with a LS2, split rear exhaust. etc."...............

To make a long story short, I got a call from him today that an 05 just got on his lot.

Went down to the lot and checked out the beast! He had a Silver/black 05.
Hear are my thoughts.

The rear looks funny in person? :unsure: The tips are just too **** big, I would assume they're 5 inches in diameter and look like big Coke cans?? And it would look nicer if it was all one solid color instead of it being that plastic mold on the bottom. This should be easy to fix though if one wanted to, but not sure if you can customize 4 pipes cause the inlet is rather small to hold two pipes.

The hood looks like a rush job and is not really that much aggressive. I feel the Gravana hood looks much better and after seeing this one I'm going get that one over the 05 hood. It also is a pure cosmetic piece and isn't hooked up to any air filter or Ram Air anything? Dirty engine compartment???

Overall it still needs aftermarket rims just like 04 did..........
Oh yea, it had no dead pedal??? I thought this was being fixed for the 05?

The 05 is a great car overall, just don't pay over sticker for this bad boy!!! MSRP for this car is worth every penny!!!!

The tips are 3 1/2" OD.

The dead pedal is there, but just in the molded carpet, not a piece with an aluminum trim part. This is tougher than you think to do for a manufacturer. They have to consider the frontal barrier tests and the driver having his/her foot in this position and run the test..

They seemed hugh to me in person, they seemed a bit too "Rice" for my taste. Its not like you can't change the tips if you wanted them smaller. Changing just the tips beats what us 04 guys gotta do (i.g....changing our whole bumper, reroute our exhaust, cut a hole, etc....... :tongue:

You suggest a "dirty engine compartment" from the open hood scoops. But where do you think all the water goes that gets in through the front grills or that is splashed up from the underside? The scoops may not be a functional 'ram air' (which is proven to have little if any effect), they still cool the engine bay off which does have a positive performance effect.

Call me crazy, but I actually do care about getting my engine compartment full of dust and debris. Also, once I get my supercharger put on I wanna keep it all polished and shiney. :D
