I have been a ford owner my entire life and I traded in my 03 lightning this weekend for an 04 gto. I wanted a manual sports car and this was right up my alley.
Today the gto showed it's worth as a 350z pulled along side me. He looked at me i looked at him and it was on like donkey kong. he had me for a couple of seconds then I shifted into 4th and flew right by him. I thought he had cut off but he kept coming but he never had the chance to catch up. I thought I was going to regret trading in my truck but not after today. GTO RULES!!! :D
I only have 350 miles on it, could I have damaged something?

As long as the engine still runs fine and there are no check engine lights then everything is fine, just dont make a habit of doing that untill the car is broken in.

its hard to wait that long sometimes, i didnt do a highway run until I had about 1000 on the engine, thing ran like a mofo. Just think u still got another 25 mph left to enjoy.

How long is the breaking in period? I actually drove 150 miles to pick this car up and drove them back. I'm beginning to worry about what I may have done to it!

You probably didn't do anything to it just don't drive hard untill it gets used to being drivin witch would probably be in about less than 1,000 miles. So just take it easy. Build up your energy fro speed then let it out. After 1,000 miles.

Dont worry its more or less like 500 miles or so for the break in. It just insures that everything lubed, spinning and moving properly. But its not bad to hit the gas hard everyonce in awhile. The computer is supposed to be able to adapt and modify controls based on how u drive and the way the engine is performing. It says something like that in the manuel.

B) You did nothing to the car. In my opinion this will help your engine to break in better. There are many schools/opinions. For me the worst thing to the engine is to rev it to redline when it is cold (engine),so I never do it. As far as hitting 135mph from time to time is nothing bad before first 1000 miles.

Yea, there's alot of "break in theories". I don't think there's anything wrong with runnin it hard during the break in period, just don't sustain any high RPM's.

I would not be worried. The LS-1 engine is perhaps one of the most well proven Corvette engines ever built.
