Does anyone know if you can replace the stock shifter knob on an M6 wih a classic white Hurst shifter round knob? It looks like the stock shifter knob is connected to the boot. If anyone knows where you can get this or how to install it please let me know.

The stock shift knob and shaft are not threaded. I know this because I tried to force mine off and it broke the plastic clip that holds the knob on. The local dealership wanted $280 for a replacement knob and shaft! I went to my local exhaust shop who cut and welded on a threaded bolt so I could use any standard shift knob with it.
I then went and purchased a Hurst classic shaft and again had to have my exhaust shop shorten it and then heat it up and bend it so it would face the right way. In the end I like the classic look and love the way it feels in my hand. Some might want to shorten it even further, but I like it the way it is. I am having trouble attaching pictures so I can email pictures to anyone who would like

Jim I'd like to see some pics. I've been thinking of trying to do something similar. TIA. droopy1@bellsouth.net

Hey Jim Klee-
Any idea as to how anyone would get the knob off without breaking it?
I actually just came back from Carlisle with a new shift knob but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it off.....
Thanks,
