Just wondering if any of our dealers have heard about the next round of finance rates or incentives after the current program ends 1/31/05.

Incentives are never announced to dealers before the current program ends. This prevents them from telling someone not to buy today and wait until next month.

I agree with that statement.

Hope everyone got their GTO's before today. Owner loyalty is now ended, the $700 Appearance package allowance on the '04's has been cancelled, there are no rebates on the '05's through the end of March, and dealer certificates can not be applied to the GTO. Only thing out there is 3.9% for 60 months. Also, FYI, nothing new on the '04's either, still just the $5000 final pay.

Current Inventives on 05's are $0 in cash rebates, but there 0% for 36 months, 2.9% for 48 months, and 3.9% for 60 months.

Leasing is as follows:

Interest Rate / Residual Value / Rebate
24 mos. 3.50 / 62% (add 1%) / 0
30 mos. 3.50 / 57% (add 1%) / 0
36 mos. 3.50 / 53% (add 3%) / 0
48 mos. 3.50 / 45% (add 3%) / 0

* residual values are for 15,000 miles per year. (add for 12,000 miles per year)

I hope this helps anyone...

I wouldnt count on it, the big three are trying to get away from using incentives to sell their cars, combine that with the lower production number for 05, and the upgrades...

How can you be certain there won't be anything till April? ("end of March")

I thought incentives were updated/adjusted every month?

The 0.0% for 36 is new this month, and I like that.

Out of the big three, only D-Chrysler is serious about not relying on incentives. Last year (mid-year) they dropped the MSRP across their vehicles.

And after watching the Pacifica flop due to high MSRP, they got wise and prices the 300 and Magnum reasonably from the get go.

GM obviously has not learned. (Just look at all the incentives you could apply one on top of another for the 2004s. People were getting GTOs for over $10k off MSRP easy!)

Adding content and dropping supply is no where near the answer. Dropping MSRP is the only thing they can do to stop relying on incentives.

One advantage to incentives over lower MSRP is when leasing. Since GMAC calculates the residual price of the car as a percentage of the MSRP, lowering the MSRP would reduce the residual value. Assuming the actual sales price of the car is the same when using incentives or a lower MSRP, then the incentives would result in a lower lease cost. This is why so many people were leasing '04s in December.

I would never have considered leasing a car until I learned how they are calculated and how these calculations made the '04 GTO a great deal. With the Decmber incentives, a GM Card user could get between $10,500 and $11,500 off, resulting in a final sales price of ~$22k. The residual for a 24month/12k lease is 63% of MSRP or ~$21k. As a result, with a lease you are only financing ~$1k plus leasing fees and taxes over a 2 year time period. This is how people were getting the GTO for $120 to $180/mo. with no cash down and no trade-in. Personally, I had one dealer at $135/mo sign and drive (no money out of pocket at signing, not even the first payment), but they had another buyer they were holding the car for who ended up taking it. I ended up going with a local dealer at $160/mo sign and drive.

The negative with the lease is that you don't have any capital after the lease is up. It's just as if you rented the car. The good thing is that you get to buy another car at that time. For me it will be interesting how the '06 and '07 GTO's compare with each other and with its competiton in late Dec '06 when my lease is up.

GM programs generally run for 60 days.
