How is it possible not to have a hood lamp, how am I suppose to show off my motor?

You can show the motor off by

1. Mash the throttle

2. Blow by the poor sap in the next lane showing him your taillights.

All the picture they will ever need. :D

I also believe an underhood lamp would be a nice touch on a $30,000 +vehicle.

You think it would be a nice touch on our $30k vehicle?

AHAHAA

My dad's $65k ESCALADE doesn't even get one!!

God forbid GM cough up $1.25 per unit so their customers can actually maintain their vehicles properly.

Maybe it's just me but I generally don't do a whole lot of maintenance at night in poorly lit places. I honestly hadn't noticed that the car didn't have an under-hood light. I was going to say "...until this thread" but I haven't looked since this thread started, either.

I agree. Majority of hood lights are just barely useful enough to check and see if your motor is still in there and thats about it. LOL. I have seen cars with modded dual hood lights and upgraded bulbs. They seemed to be a little more useful.

If you are looking to show off the motor.... get a set of Neons that mount under the hood (they are removable)

If it is just a complaint --- I agree with the above -- I do not work on the car in poor lighting and most hood lights are worthless anyway.

I guess my opinion that this feature should be included on our GTO's is based on my having this feature on two other vehicles I currently own; 1990 Dodge Shadow VNT, and a 1989 GMC S15. Both vehicles msrp were under $14K.

I agree with the statement about having adequate lighting for maintenance operations, I just have found underhood illumination handy for a quick check of coolant and oil level under low light situations, without the need for a flashlight.

I guess if I had never had it, I wouldn't have noticed it missing!
