Alright!!! 1st run complete. I went up against a Z28. I ran a 13.44 and **** IT FELT GOOD! Not only my 1st time running my Goat but my 1st time on a race track. The Z28 finished at 15.something I dont realy remember (my wife threw away my time slip) she didn't know I wanted to keep it. Unfortunatly Moroso Motor Sports Park has a rule about not letting you race with out a helmet if you time under 13.99 so I'll have to get one before I return to the track (I'll be ****ed if I'm gonna rent one). Well, that's my night! Your look'n at a very happy man.

Thats a pretty good time, yeah you need a helmet if you run faster than a 13.9, and there are other various safety measures to run but they are all faster than a 13.00.

I have a M6 04 GTO bone stock. now the proccess I did was, thanx to reading these boards I knew to avoid the water, I did a 3 to 4 second burn out, not enough to smoke the tires just got them warmed up. As I was approaching the line I paid close attentino to how the lights fell soI could time my take off. I was able to see 3 other go before me so that helped w/my timing.

Z28 gets into position 1st so I start rolling up. The light comes on for my side soI'm ready to go. Then this dude walks up to me and says "Roll up your windows" I'm like DOH! didn't read that in the rules. so now the yellow lights start going down I hit the gas to about 3k rpm maybe a bit more the 3rd yellow comes on and I hesitate just an instant and then lift up on the clutch about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way and then the light goes green just as I start moving. Once I feel my car gripping I let up on the clutch all the way and mash the gas, I had no wheele hop and it felt like I was on the verge of my tires spinning. I could hear a slight chirp once I went full throttle. I shifted to 2nd right when rpms hit 5.9k and had a bit more of a tire slide than I wanted but that didnt seem to slow me down any. So I just kept going, gas to the floor and finished off my run in 4th gear. I'll be heading back in a few weeks and will definatly NOT let my wife hold my time slip.

Sorry I missed this one, that is an amazing time for your first run and being completely stock. You don't remember the mph do you?
I imagine you could easily get a 13.3 next time(or better), which is the best time mags like C&D got out of the '05

Not sure on the MPH, I only glanced at it before showing my wife the paper. I want to say it was around 105? again, not realy sure and the z28 was like 97mph. I'll be heading back to the track again either this weekend or the next and will have all the info on my times.

Sounds like a plan. I was out there for the KFC Hot Rod Sunday and spent the day check'n out the car show and races. They were let'n ya run times between the brackets and I got to run near the end. Unfortunaly I think all the "fun" of the day cought up to me cause I totaly blew it :drevil: I did my lauch for my burn out and my burn out for my launch if you get my meaning. Well, cause we gotta take the good with the bad here's the slip (why couldn't she throw this one away too)

R/T .620

60' 2.703

330 7.304

1/8 10.563
MPH 77.29

1000 13.303

1/4 15.906
MPH 82.65

I was a little ticked needless to say. I tried launching at 5krpm rather than the 3k I launched with a couple weeks ago. I also came withing 2 feet of the wall, didn't think 5 hours of breathing burnout smoke would have such an intoxicating effect on someone (the new toil?) :friday: I'll be heading back out there probably 2 weeks from this Friday and plan to get there early so I can do more than 1 run. Will keep you all posted.

Sheesh, 5K? Doing that won't get you any good times without slicks on the car. Try 1.5K anhd easing out the clutch that should lower your 60" time a good amount.

All that will do is induce massive wheel hop. Launching at 3K is about right. No dumping but fast on the clutch and gas. No wheel hop and sub 2.0 short times are the reward.

I go to Moroso every now and then, raced my Tib once, got a 14.2, kinda dissapointed.

What was the trap speed? Your kind of shooting yourself in the foot though by adding the massive speakers/PS2 etc. I don't think 13's would be hard to attain, have you thought of upgrading your fuel system so you could run more PSI?

All of that stuff is out now, I only have 1 8" sub in the stock sub box, it actually weighs less. I raced with the spare and everything in the car, and a full tank, I wanted to know what I would run street prepped, I haven't been back yet. 13's would be easy for me to obtain, a guy I know with the same setup ran a 13.049 with DR"s. I am going to do a little weight reduction and then try for 13.75 before I get a full port and polish.

Anyone know the fastest stock time for an 04 and 05 GTO?

Nocturn

Best I have herd for an 04 was a 13.1 @ 107-108 done by SLP themselves...So take it with a grain of salt. As far as best non tuner times, I think a 13.4 has been had in an stock 04 by someone on this board. I havn't seen any lower than that though. Most autos usually run .1-.3 slower FYI.

As for an 05, I have herd a 12.9, but cant verrify it. Many people simply don't have the 05s yet so there arn't to many that have hit the track. But wait a few weeks and im sure we will have some reporting times pretty soon.

There are a few guys on another forum that have gotten 13.1 out of thier bone stock '04 GTO's. Quite a few have run 13.3. The times are out there, might not be here, But they are out there.

Thats awesome, gotta love rwd, so I'm guessing stock 05's can hit 12.8's with a good driver, maybe less.

Rob

The '05's should run into the 12s without problem for the most part. So far its just that unconfirmed 12.9 but others will follow :)

Not a bad time for the MPH, but you could probably get a lower ET with a better launch.
