I have a O4 with a M6. I have approx 2,000 Miles on her.

When Im taking of at a stand still, it seams on occasion I hear a odd sound coming from the rear of the car, almost sound like its in the trunk.

Anyone know what it may be?

Im not luging the motor, I some times also here it in 2nd gear also.

I checked the spare tire to see if it was tight, it seemed to be.
the sound is more of a slight rumble or vibration , then goes away.

Is like a low howling sound? I have the same problem. It's very noticable at highway speeds.

Its hard to erxplain , it is only at take of from a stop.
Not a howl, more like a gurgle or growl. It is only during the inital load at take of at a slow grampa like speed.( When Im trying to save a buck it gas ie better mileage)

It happens in Rev , as well as 1st , second.

I think I have the same problem. I intially thought I was letting off on the clutch a little too early, but I've noticed that sound quite often.

If you have one of the earlier cars, there is a clunk that is made during acceleration. The dealer has a TSB about it, they will replace a bushing and it should go away.

How would I know if these TSB's have been done to my car?

I'm thinking that it may be some sort of exhaust rattle.
I'll be crawling under her this weekend if the snow doe'snt fly.

I know your exhausts are different to local production vehicles but here we had an issue with the exhaust front pipe heat shields rattling at low power takeoff this was fixed by fitting modified shields. may be yours need tightening or repositioning hope this helps. :type:

It wouldn't be a bad idea to check the torque on the axle retaining bolts. Several 04 owners have reported issues with the bolts falling out....

I think there’s a TSB for something called “Thunk in the trunk” on early Goats, you may want to ask the dealer. Just a thought….
