:(
I got worked up this afternoon and a car wanted to race. I put it in 4th and stepped on it, wanting to shift to 5th, I guess I pushed to hard and heard the gear grind, when I looked down, the shifter is towards R. Isn't there something to protect us from mishifting to R. DID I DO ANYTHIONG TO HER??????
Help, I'm worried-----it seems to be running okay, but I'm going crazy!
I DON'T WANT TO HEAR UR DOOMED!

You didn't hurt anything, the grinding sound was you fighting against the reverse lockout solenoid. Time for a more precise shifter, the stock unit is a bit on the sloppy side for me.

As long as you didnt actually go into reverse or let the clutch out in reverse you will be fine, just work on getting the gear locations memorized.

As I always say, "It must not have done too much damage, we're still moving forward." :D
TEK GTO is right. Modern cars have lockouts so you can't put it in reverse accidentally.

I don't seem to have damaged anything, it ran well all day today. Didn't notice any funny noises or vibrations.
Thanks guys!

Just make sure that you put it into reverse a few times (Not while your moving though) if you are having problems getting it to go in (into reverse that is....) then have it looked at. This has happened a lot and as long as you don't make a habit of it, your tranny will be fine.
These trannies are just like the old rock crushers and can take a lot of abuse (unlike the rest of the driveline). If you are having problems getting it to go into reverse, put it into third first and then into reverse, if it goes in smoothly you are ok. If it doesn’t, (I’m gonna’ plagiarize here) “UR DOOMED!!! :hysterical: "
