i just got my 04 goat and was wondering if those programmers are worth the money. and if so which one is the best to get. i have a automatic(had to compromise with my better half to get the car so no 6sp) so i wasnt sure if it would help or not. i plan on getting some more upgrades. just wondering if this was something to start with? any help would be helpful, and this site is great! :afro:

For an automatic a handheld programmer is worth it. You can adjust the shifting of the car so much that it will feel like an additional 50 HP was added. If you buy a Predator from Running with the Devil, James will give you free custom tunes that he emails to you and you load onto the programmer and then into the car. They are good if you start doing headers, cam,, or more extensive mods. I loved my Predator I had for my truck but with having a 6 spd. GTO I will be going with a custom dyno tune.

That's why I say go with a Predator. With the ability to get custom tunes it will be good for you no matter what you do to the car. Make sure you get one with the latest revision though, I think it is version 2.03 now.

Thanks guys!!! The wheels didn't cost me anything. The dealer put them on and I got them thrown in as part of the deal. I told them the only way I wanted the car was with the wheels but I wasn't going to pay for it. The manager said "no way" and then when I was about to leave the dealer got called into the managers office and okayed it. The dealership was charging $2500 for them but I've seen them on GMpartsdirect for $22-2300 or so.

How much does a custom dyno tune typically cost?

If you're not going to do any major mods, a Predator is your best bet. With internal engine mods or headers, a dyno tune is the only way to go. A dyno tune typically ranges from $400-$600 and has to be redone after any more mods are added.

How often are the upgrades done? Have you heard anything concrete for the 05 preditor? I read may be this month. Any other benifits seen on the M6? B)
