Essentially, collant flows through the throttlebody, heating it up and heating up and thus heating the air that passes through it. This is used so that in the colder states, or in a freeze to keep the throttle blades from freezing togethor and help the engine warm up.

IF you dont need the benefits you can get maybe 1-2HP by rerouting the coolant so that it doesn't flow through the throttle body and keeps it cooler when its running.

You can make one yourself if you want to go a find a small peice of pipe and 2 connectors, but if you look around any throttle body bypass kits should include everything you need to complete the kit. I don't know any sites off the top of my head that sell the kit as it is kind of DIY thing.

You don't even need a kit. Just eliminate one of the coolant lines from the block to tb, and attach the other hose to where you removed the other hose from. You take the tb out of the loop, at a cost of just a few minutes of labor. If needed I can try to take a pic of this done on my car, let me know.

I would like to see a pic of it too. Is the tube under the T/B or on the side????

I did it on an LT1 in which the connection is in the side of the throttle body, I assume they ar ethe same on the LS1..but I would double check to make sure.

make sure that all connections are loosened, and try playing with the tubbing.

DONE! Geeeesh...that little short hose on the driver side of the TB was a PAIN IN THEE -$$! My first engine mod on the Goat and many more to come. :D

My review:
1. Awsome mod to start with...gets you familiar with the LS1 and is a good confidence booster.

2. Make sure you have a big long flathead screwdriver to reach down to the driver side TB hose (for prying off). I didn't.

3. 100% free...no joke!
a) Obviously first set aside the air intake tubing.
b ) Eliminate the short hose (right side TBody)
c) Reroute the long hose that is on the left TB to where the short hose was connected.
d) Find 2 caps to cover the coolant inlet/outlet on TB. (you're gonna laugh but I used my old tire valve caps that I luckly saved) It wasn't easy...I really had to muscle 'em on there but it actually looks fine.
e) Zip tie the rerouted hose to the mounting braket of the power steering resivore so it's safe from the belts.

Pretty simple...happy modding! B)

OK...no prob.

Update to my free mod. The other day I went to my local auto parts store and bought an assorted pack of rubber valve covers ($2.00) to replace the tire valve caps. Looks much better and more secure.

Does this void any factory warranties?
