Hello! If this question has been asked before and a response was given, then please direct to that thread so read it.

On the '05 GTO, does the hood scoopes serve a purpose in bring in more air to the engine?

Thanks! :)

In a way yes, they are not connected to the engine's intake system, but they do lower the engne bays air temperature, which creates cooler air going into the intake. It s the same system that is on the new Z06.

is a banshee ok for the cooling or it lets in too much water? is carbon fiber lighter then fiber glass? :type:

The Banshee hood is great for cooling with its sets of heat extractors, but I personally think it looks like ****.

It shouldn't let to much water in, unless its designers just decided to completely ignore the rain aspect.

Carbon Fiber is lighter than Fiberglass, but check the weight savings before hand though, I don't think saving 5-10 LBS is worth an extra 300 bucks.

I thought the ’05 hood had insert in the scoops. To make it functional you would have to take those out….

It does, and you can easily remove them.
