Piedmont Dragway last sunday. I took my showroom stock '05 A4 with 539 miles and beat a 2004 Mustang GT waaaaaaaaaaaaaay bad and beat a 2004 Cobra 2 out of 3 runs. Whoever came out of the hole best won the Cobra races.

What times/speed did you run?

This is a copy and paste from my turbobuick post.

My first time up I floored it of the line and just sat there spinning the tires. The car never moved for about a second. After the first run, I rememmbered 97 GTP's advise and I started to ease into the throttle for a bit until I got out of the gate and then nailed it after I was rolliing pretty good and things slowly started to improve. I don't know why they were running the PRO Tree with so few cars there but I hate that thing. 1 Yellow boom Green.
Any way I raced a 2004 Mustang GT 3 times and wiped his butt everytime (not even close). Then a yellow 2004 Cobra showed up and I asked him to race. He was pure stock like me but with standard transmission.
I wheel hopped bad and he beat me. I said lets go again and this time I beat him. He said best 2 out of three and I beat him again. I think he was having worse traction problems then me but a race is a race no excuses and I feel good I beat a 2004 Cobra 2 out of 3.
Here are the runs. They start with my first run and end with my 10th.
The runs for the most part were back to back runs 3 in a row. You could have done a circle track there were so few cars.

Temp 45* Baromater 30.37 Humidity 64% full tank gas 35# tire Showroom Pure stock (539 miles)

What was the elevation at that track? My first 3 runs with my bone stock A4 with 750 miles or so were 2 8.74s and one 8.73 with MPH of 80.7-80.9. Quarter times were 2 13.61s and one 13.59. I had less baro, 30.03 with 63% humidity and 52 degrees temp. It looks like I'll be putting a hurting on some stock 05s now that I installed a mild cam....

Yup prety poor 60' s but as the track got warmer my 60's got better. Not sure of the elevation but prob about 500 - 600 ft ASL.

Tek GTO--your MPH looks low. according to our MPH in the 1/8 I am putting out 50 more HP but can't get it to the ground.
When I tune my cars at the drags I always use MPH not ET. MPH=HP

You are making more power, chalk up the ET to my 60' times, I didn't see all the 2.XX you had. My 60' times were 1.98-1.99 as I have experience walking the car out from my C5 that would annihilate ET Streets if I wasn't careful. I'm doing a converter in a couple weeks and looking for low-mid 12s, I can't wait to surprise some '05 owners that think my car's stock B)

Your '04 made some nice runs.
I had the same problem trying to launch. Some good street radials and you'll be in the 12's no problem. The converter will make the tires even more important. I went from a stock 2400 stall to a 3000 in my GN and forget about traction. I had some stock GN wheels built out to 10" wide rims and mounted a set of MT ET Street radials on them. I haven't run them yet because I just added a CPT65 ceramic BAll bearing turbo, and just getting it back running again after breaking another flywheel. :)
Good luck with your mods I think you got a good one there.

I still miss my 87 T, only mods were K&N, adjustable actuator, and a restalled D5. Went 13.1@107 at 19 lbs, mine had an open rear so traction sucked. I go by NJVetteGuy on turbobuick, you probably saw me over there a few times. I'm going to pick up another '87 by the end of the year, I miss that car and I love my Buicks. My old C5 got me hooked on these **** LS series motors though...

I know what you mean about the turbo Buicks. I took my wife for a WOT ride up to 120MPH in the GTO when I came back from the drags. I asked her what she thought of the acceleration. She said it felt real fast but...................she said " When you took me out in the GN and punched it I wasn't able to lift my head off of the headrest".
I bought my GN new in 1986 and have 138,000 on it now.
What I missed in the GN was the sound of the V-8, Burble Burble. I love them both and can't wait to start to mod the Goat. But for right now it is a very cool ride.
