I have had the GTO for 2 weeks now, and still haven't found ANYONE to race!!

I did get a bunch of guys in a Ford pickup with Polaris stickers to egg me on, I did a quick run for them but it wasn't a race.

I need to find some Mustangs

I never get good races either. I had a guy in a new V6 Mustang trying to race me the other day, but I don't consider that a race.

Hey, nobody ever picks on the big guy.

I'd LOVE to! :D But nobody around here with a Goat will race ME! :angry:

Man I know how you feel. I had a 2005 GT Mustang pull up beside me on the way out of town friday night and he was doing about 75 mph and I pulled up beside him and kept egging him on but he didnt want to run. I kept pulling in front of him and then slowing down for about 30 miles, but he still didnt want to go. I tell you it aggrivated me, the first 05 GT I have a chance to race and he didnt want to go, must have been SCARED.

I've been down here in Southern Texas for over a month now and still no challenges...just long hard stares-which is cool but-comeon I wanna play! :woot:

Yeah, it is kind of boring. Either they know and won't run, or they don't know and it's no fun.

Unfortunately I had to turn a run down.

2 weekends ago I'm heading into town in a hurry to get some things from the supermarket and get home as my wife and I were going to go out. (My parents were down to babysit our son, a rare chance for us to get out.)

As I'm heading into town on the undivided 4 lane, I see a red Ford Truck roaring up behind me in the rear view. I thought, Ooo a Lightning.

Well sure enough it's a Lightning and he wants to run as he slows aside me and a little ahead. A couple of younger kids (maybe early 20's) think they want a piece. I see a temporary plate and figure they just got it and think they are the sh!t. Probably no mods either so I'd have a chance too. Couldn't tell if it was the 360 or 380 horse version.

Problem is there are lights ahead in town and not 2 tenths of a mile down the road is the State Police Headquarters. No way am I going to run by that and into lights, on the way out sure. I figure these 2 had no clue and were probably from out of town as I haven't seen this truck and it's a pretty small town. So I pull into the supermarket and see they pull into a nearby gas station. I go in quickly and get my stuff and come back out and see they are still there. As I'm leaving all of a sudden they are gone. I looked all around but no sign. Must have headded down a side street or something. Oh well, I would have ran on my way out of town on the way back home. Should have been a good race with 2 in their truck and just me and only 1/2 a tank of gas.

I'll keep looking. :D

Believe it or not, some people may find playing race car on the streets a stupid and dangerous activity...

Hey Goat Germ where is Portland, Tx in relation to Austin or Houston? I have lived here all my life and have never heard of that town, even though Texas is Huge.

Its around Corpus I believe.

Had one naive young thing in a Z71 try to run me out of a light yesterday. She didn't have a clue. Stopped on a double lane at a light on Highway 71, 45 mph speed zone. Uphill grade. Left lane (her lane) ended about 100 yards up the hill. She pulled up on my left while I was in the right lane and thought she'd just pull ahead and cut in front of me. Light changed, easy throttle to stay beside her. I could hear that big 5.7 (or whatever) roaring, tumbleweeds and chicken parts flying out the oversized fake duals, so I knew she wanted my spot. Pulled 2nd gear and never saw her again. No challenge, no fun.

BTW, I'm not seeing ANY '05 GTs around here. What's the deal?

Portland is on the Gulf about 7mi NE of Corpus Christi (the next town up on Hwy 181). Austin is about 200mi NNW of here and Houston is about a 2 1/2 hr drive NE.

I have seen three GT Mustangs in the last three weeks and only once have I been in my Goat, and when I was he didnt want to race. The other times I was in my daily beater and couldnt play.

I was behind a WRX STI yesterday on my way in to work. I wanted to get next to him but traffic wasn't wasn't favorable. I know there's a chance he could beat me but at least it would've been fun. :rolleyes:
