Greetings all,

Been in contact with the nearest Central FL dealership about an '05 Silver/red M6 (My second choice,I really want blue/blue M6). They're quoting firm MSRP <_< on it. Considering the dealer markup horror stories I've read on the forum, this seems somewhat reasonable. However, I've also read about some folks managing better than this.

I'm sure there are many factors involved with this, so here's some minimal background...A trade in that should be a wash...(I owe < KBB price)
No GM discounts apply
Loan pre-approved by my bankAny insights? The car has been sitting at least a week - 'fraid it might get away...

MSRP seems like a good deal, many people will take it for that, if your afriad it might get away I say act now.

If you don't mind seeing the same car sell for $8000 less 5 months from now, go ahead and buy it.

I'm not making a joke - I'm being completely serious.

No one is for sure on the car being $8000 less 5 months from now. The 2005s are selling at a greater rate than the 2004s were at this time. If you are happy with the deal than take it. By the way I do have a Black/Red 6 speed in stock if you want a discount. Let me know.

You wont see the same rebats on the 05s, there are less GTOs produced for 05, and its been upgraded to fix some complaints. You WILL NOT see the same rebates at the end of the year.

I agree with that statement, but you will always have the haters that will say but look at what happened last year. Well we will see.

I agree with you guys, who knows what tommorrow brings there could be some discounts, or there could be none at all, I say if ya can afford the car and your happy with the deal go for it. I am looking ta get one in July, not cause I am looking for larger savings, but because that is when I will be able to afford one.
Four months and countin'

Well, I'm thinking that if the 06 body style stays the same as the 05 then you will see almost no price drop

But if they add more hp and change the body, then you will see a drop

I think it will also depend on the amount of 05s left at the end of this year

GM almost always puts Rebates on vehicles at the end of a Model year. Now if all (or most of) the GTOs are sold....then no rebates will need apply.

One thing to remember is the car will always be cheaper later - always.
and
The summer has not hit yet...so there may be a serge in GTO sales...figure the spring is only 1 month away and that means for most of the country in about 1-2 months you will have about 5-7 decent months of good weather - so sales may serge even higher.

But time will tell.

:pain: Awww, hell. Too late. It was gone as of today.
I did find the right car a ways farther south though...Maybe I can snatch that one.
Thanks for the opinions!

:frankie: Oops, spoke too soon. I had been going by the Pontiac & GM dealer/vehicle locators on their respective websites. None of the cars I was interested in are even in the US yet, and some are even sold.

:woot: However, I broke down & ordered an IMB/Blue M6 today.

The bad news? It shipped the 2nd of March...T minus 8 weeks and counting.

At least I know I'll be picking up "an honest to God" new car! :dribble:

What is waiting worth? Is that car worth $32K? It was to me. First car I ever bought off the lot (well, off the transport really). IBM. Just what I was ready to order and wait 6 months for. Why would anyone expect to get a $33K car for $28K? I passed on the 04 because I was not going to give the dealer a free $6K profit even if the car was worth 40K. Markup is only about $2,400 I think which is a lot of money for about 1 hour's worth of work by the sales staff. Pontiac knows what the car is worth. Pay the list and enjoy! :P

It took awhile, but I decided just that. It's worth it to me. So like the commercial says I did it. Lurking the forums helped a great deal.
My previously owned list isn't nearly as long as yours, but I've always gotten vehicles off the lot. They were all close enough to what I wanted - 'course none were $30K+ either. I've chalked it up to paying for exactly what I want this time.
As for why someone would insist on discounts on GTOs...Look what happened to the 04s. You can enjoy them all you want, but how could early buyers not be a little bitter about someone coming behind them & saving some significant $$$. The difference would pay for some kick @$$ mods. :)

MK-Scorpion How long did is it going to take to ship. My GTO is coming off the line on April 11 they should have a estimate arrival date from there but the wait is killing me. I ordered a imp blu/blu m6

The Vehicle Order History I got when I "ordered" mine lists a completion date 2/5/05, but it didn't ship until 3/2/05. I hope for your sake it doesn't take a month to ship yours. :pain: The dealer told me 8 weeks/end of May. :woot: The long part of the wait is the boat ride from down under - 8k+ miles.
Since the car had already shipped when I signed papers, I probably lucked out and short circuited the order process a bit. I think that car was already allocated to the dealer, I just reserved the right to have first crack at it.

Well, Looking at the sales numbers it looks like there will be some '05's left over when the '06 comes out. You may not see 8,000 dollars worth of incentives like you did with the '04 but there WILL be dealer incentives to get the '05s off the lot.

Although what with the train derailment in Iowa (depending on the number of cars actually destroyed in the wreck) its possible that there could be more demand then supply or could actually allow the '05 model year to be sold out before halfway through '06 which would keep the incentives from showing up at all.
