I used to own an '86 Grand National and I now own an '05 GTO so I can't pick favorites on this one. <_< It's kind of like having your two favorite football teams play each other and you cheer and boo every touchdown at the same time.

I read most of those replies and many of them are defending the GTO. They even admitted that the GTO is a better car stock for stock. I thought I was gonna hear a bunch of ricer bull s***, but they actually dealt a fair amount of respect to the GTO over there.
And who are they to talk about the GTO's design? At least I'm not driving a black rectangle with the word "Buick" on it. heheh

I posted my thoughts, I'm under the username NJVetteGuy(registered while I had my C5). I'm a Buick man at heart, so if you have a problem with anything that says Buick on it we can race and prove my point. Bring money.
I posted also(TTA 1387) for when I had my TTA. Some over there are "pursists" so you get the name calling and ricer comments. Most respect the car and its abilities, whether they like the style or not.

I also posted over on the turbo buick forum. (bogie1). I own a modified 1986 GN that I bought new that runs 11's. Both wonderfull cars. I have a 2003 BMW Z4 3.0 SMG and proudly posted information on my Goat on the BMW board also.
I just like cool cars.

Here are the two bad boys at the track. My wife raced the Goat and I ran the GN.

Hello,
I have to echo what Artie and bogie1 said...on the one hand, I can stuff a pair of 28x10" slicks/gas cans/jack/toolbag/etc. into the trunk of my full weight/power everything A/C-equipped "rolling rectangle", average 21 MPG on the 4+ hour trip to Vegas, run some good numbers at LVMS, load up and drive home again. On the other, my '04 A4 has much more comfortable seats, a super stereo, handles great, is 16 years newer, isn't quite the theft target the other car is, and is a much better candidate for the Silver State Classic run I want to do in September. But, they have one common denominator: no matter which one I drive, the chances of me seeing another one on the road are going to be awful doggone slim! B)
Artie-- you have great taste in old Buicks...at one time I had a cherry '67 GS California that I sold to another local Buick enthusiast, so I still get to see her once in awhile... :(

Maybe it's because I'm young and wasn't old enough to care about cars in the Grand National's glory years, but I have to say that I can't stand it. I'm impressed with the numbers it puts up, but it looks like a child molester car to me. (I know someone is going to ask, so I'll just say it, "No, I don't know what makes it a child molester car, it just looks like that to me") No disrespect to anyone who likes them and I'm sure they are fabulous cars, just personal opinion. I figure that I will get fewer death threats in a GTO forum

"I'm impressed with the numbers it puts up, but it looks like a child molester car to me."
Now that is funny. Almost pissed myself laughing.
When I drive my GN on the street I usualy wear a long black trench coat with nothing on underneath. :hysterical: :woot:

Hey carnivore80,
My GN did some Molesting Sunday at the drags!!! I ran back to back personal best in the 1/8 mile.
My MT DR were pretty well gone with just shy of 800 miles on them so I said what the hell, and pulled a 20 second burnout from hell.
I power brake hard and left on about 8 # boost.
1.587
7.372
93.83
I know that was an 11 second run because it was pulling harder in 3rd than 1st or second.
I was going to call it quits but something inside me said I needed a backup run to match.
5th Run
No changes
1.581
7.343
93.86
Looks like I would Run 11.45- 11.50 1/4 in the old Molestermoblie
Just call me Chester the molester!!
