: Filling with gas problem?
savage05GTO 03-14-2005, 06:17 PM I have a 2005 black GTO and ever since I got it, it won't fill properly. When I start to fill if the tank was almost empty it will stay on and only put in about 8 gallons. That is where the trouble begins... In order to put any more gas in it i have to stand there getting the precise angle for like 5 minutes before it will continue filling. It just keeps shutting off as soon as I start pumping. Anybody know of a way to fix this or should i go to the delership??
Nocturn 03-14-2005, 07:36 PM I would take it to the dealer.
T.Vick 03-14-2005, 08:37 PM Mine has just recently started acting up when it's about 2-3 gallons from being full. Same thing, just keeps clicking off. I think it's done it twice. I haven't had it looked at yet. The last time I filled it, it was fine. <_<
TheJizzer 03-15-2005, 07:27 AM I believe there is a TSB out on this.....I will look for it.
savage05GTO 03-16-2005, 06:51 PM TSB?
TheJizzer 03-17-2005, 08:17 AM Technical Sevice Bulletin. It is a notice from the manufacture but not a recall. Just a "fix" if someone needs it. Only the dealers are usually notified. And the info travels on the forums :D
wineldr 03-25-2005, 04:37 PM I've seen them before, but where can we get a complete list of TSB's?

Find a dealerships service manager out at the bar and buy him a round.

Sting2114 03-28-2005, 08:09 PM For a complete list of TSB's for the 04 Pontiac GTO, you can look here:

wineldr 04-05-2005, 01:30 PM Thanks for the link. I have seen in the past, the complete bulletin describing more detail. Where can these be found?
jray1 04-06-2005, 09:04 PM my 2005 midnight blue/black m6 had to be serviced for a leaking slave cylinder and a defective trunk latch 1 week after purchase . i called around to ask if there were problems with these things so i wouldn't feel like i bought a lemon , but no one would tell me they had problems . after i carried it in to be worked on then they told me about the tsb's on these 2 things.
edlepak 04-19-2005, 09:56 PM I bought my GTO last year (04) and constantly have trouble filling the tank. I took it into the dealer and they found nothing wrong. I believe it is in the way the fill tube is designed. The best way I have found is to fill as slowly as you can (first notch on the handle). It is the most agravating problem I have. Four cars fill up while I am still trying to fill my tank. I travel in my GTO and it sure is a time killer. The other thing I have noticed is the trip computer. It is almost impossible th put in as much gas as the computer states that you used. I don't know if the accuracy of the computer is off or what. I usually am at least a gallon short. I need to manually check fuel mileage, but I think I am getting better fuel mileage than the computer states.
st8gunner 04-21-2005, 05:59 PM Mine did it the very first time I got gas. I was driving away from the gas station and saw my tank was only at 3/4. Hasn't done it again, though.
Firecow1703 04-22-2005, 10:08 PM We have a similer problem with some of the fire engines at work. We have found the best methoud to put gas in without delay (still need to fill slowly), is to put the nozzle in upside down.
Hey if its good enough for a fire engine it has to be good enough for our goats right?
SR22xs 04-29-2005, 08:28 AM I have the same prob. Does anyone NOT have this problem? I found this TSB, but wondering if it's SOP......

SR22xs 04-29-2005, 09:22 PM Firecow,
Pretty **** smooth! After reading (& posting) the TSB from GM, it appeared they were using buckshot. It would appear to me that if there's a problem (that more than 1 of us is having) there's a solution. Maybe they don't know why yet.
Anyway I stopped tonite for gas, and said "what the hell". Sure enough, it made a difference! I even had the pump handle on WAO!!! My gauge went further to the left than I've ever seen! I reset my trip meter to see how much better it did. It's still the best experience I've had putting gas in.
Thanks for the tip!
Got anymore tricks we could learn from that fire engine?

Stop, Drop, and Roll?
Stop at the light,
Drop it into 1st,
and Roll....
GTOOOOOH 04-30-2005, 10:05 AM Happened to me once... and also, I have run the car **** near empty, and although the gauge goes all the way to full, my gas mileage has been ****, maybe I'm not getting a full full.
