: 93 Notch LX says goodbye to 04 Goat
lxpony 03-14-2005, 09:15 PM :hysterical: Yup sorry guys. Had to take one of you out to the corral. It was on a long stretch of road know as the Podunk Pike here in town. It was 11:00 this past Saturday night. I was heading home when I saw the lights come flying up on me, I thought it might have been a cop at first. When he flew past is when I saw what it was. Well I could'nt let that go so I dropped it into 3rd and took off after him when I flew past him I was doing a buck 20. And when I finally let off the gas I was pushing 140, The needle was just about pegged on my speedo. He caught back up shook his head and we both went our seperate ways at the end of the road. It was probably stock, And I've got some mods, Headers, CAT-Back Exhuast, Side pipes, Ram Air Induction, Chip, underdrive pulleys, Cobra Upper and Lower Intake, 70mm throttle body and 24lb injectors, running on 100 Octane Aviation gas.
Robert Perez 03-14-2005, 09:23 PM Welcome to NewAgeGTO and nice kill. It's always fun winning no matter what you drive or who you're against.
Although, unlike Mustangland where the median age is 17 we're not as likely to get into silly arguments. You might want to try the CivicSI forum if that's what you're after.
If you honestly into more info on the LS1 or LS2. Engines so full of latent horsepower they pick up 20 horsepower by just breathing on them. Stick around.
Orbit Orange 03-14-2005, 11:22 PM <sigh>
OK, let's try to play nice with the Mustang boys.
Just a thought though, even though he passed you, are you sure he was racing or had he let off. I am finding it very hard to believe you "flew" by him at 120. I'm not saying it's impossible, it just seems highly suspect.
So how much HP do you think your 'Stang is pumping out with those mods?
Just trying to get some answers here. And let's keep this civil. :D
TEK GTO 03-15-2005, 12:20 AM lxpony, have any ETs on your Stang? I'm building a mild 306 for my friend's '84 GT, he's not happy with mid 13s from a cam only swap on his 160k mile stock bottom end. Had over 25% leakdown on a couple cylinders too  Post your location, maybe someone from the forum in your area would be up for a friendly race.
torridredaccd 03-15-2005, 01:56 AM I take it that this is whats known as a troll.

Not quite, but its certainly not a good way to make a peacefull first post. A troll would be someone who comes on here just to bash the GTO and start flame wars.
I banned a similar person earlier today... <_< :eatarrow:
04GOATGERM 03-15-2005, 09:03 AM Ohhh...so that's where he went.
lxpony 03-15-2005, 12:34 PM I'm sorry I didn't mean to start out on the wrong foot. I was actually just looking for info on the GTO, ran across the newage website, and I usually always go to forums, One for funny's and two for learning purposes. I don't want to start a war. Keep it straight don't bash me or my opinions and I won't bash you or your opinion.
So when I saw the Kill Forum I figured you might get a kick. Now when I say flew by at 120, I'm not saying it was like he was standing still. Believe me or not it's up to you, he did not let off he was wanting to go with me. The LX Notch is pretty light I, don't know if GTO is. It looks small enough Grand Am / Grand Prix size maybe. I believe I'm pushing 325hp, The biggest instant change I saw was with the Cobra Intake, Then the underdrive pulleys, The chip was in it before hand and they say that without more air and fuel the chip it's a waste. I can't tell you what my ET is I' havn't been the strip yet, I'd like to get there this Summer. You say that the average age of a Mustang driver is 17, that maybe right to an extent, if you wanna call those hosebags Mustang drivers. Maybe in a few years when they grow up they'll learn how to enjoy a car. Besides, you can find a couple of them cheap. I know when I was looking it was hard to find anything worth it to spend my money on. The've all been beat on by those 17 yr olds. I've gone to plenty of Mustang shows and it's a huge brother hood, I'm sure like you have hear. When I drive down the street and a mustang is driving by the headlights flash, whether it be a 4/6/8 cylinder. The next changes are the Diffs to 3:55 and a Cam. Again sorry no hard feelings, maybe it was just the driver. He was cool though,

Would that be 325 at the wheels? If you haven't been to a dyno or a strip, then you have no idea how much power you're making. Maybe you beat him, or maybe he wasn't willing to race past 120mph on a public road late at night..
Nocturn 03-15-2005, 09:26 PM No biggy. :friday:
There are in general some cool mustang guys, but there are with any car its share of pricks.
The old LX mustangs are pretty light, edmunds reports weights under 3000 LBS. Which would be a good deal less than our GTOs.
Any idea on if it was an 04 or 05?

First off -- The first thing you do is come to a GTO website and Pick a fight....
2nd you tried to start a war and I am not buying your "niceness" now... you come here and do not say "hi" or how are you but instead you insult.
3rd you claim to be looking for info -- ok Goto the mustang sites and get your info
4th I do not care about your opinion....to me your first impression says way more than your opinion will ever need to say.
As for you Nocturn -- he has not clue as to the GTO specs so I would suspect he would have no clue as to a 04 or 05....

Well he may not know stats but he could point out the appearnce difference if he got a good look at it.
Im not one to judge on a first impression...
Orbit Orange 03-15-2005, 10:59 PM lx
I'm not debating that you passed this GTO at 120. I can believe that. What I am questioning though is if he was really on it or not.
I got to thinking about this.....
Now when I say flew by at 120, I'm not saying it was like he was standing still. Believe me or not it's up to you, he did not let off he was wanting to go with me. The LX Notch is pretty light I, don't know if GTO is.
How fast would you say you were going as he passed you? And how fast would you guess he was going?
The reason I ask, even though your Stang is probably a good 500 pounds lighter and only gives up say 25 HP to the 350 horse 04 GTO, if this was from a roll (let's say around 60 mph or so) the weight advantage isn't that much. From a dead stop our 500+ pounds is really going to be noticeable. But from speed at WOT I just don't see how you could overtake him IF he was racing. Of course unless you are talking 325 rwhp or getting a lot more out of your listed mods.
Again, I'm not saying you didn't pass him, I believe you. I'm just not sure he was WOT. The LS1 has a nice upper RPM power band and even with the extra weight I just don't see you catching him at 120 mph (unless he wasn't at WOT).
Just trying to make some sense of it and if we were close I'd gladly try to replicate this situation with you and we'd see what happened. ;)
Let's give him a chance guys, who knows maybe if we educate him about our Goats we can get him out of his Mustang and into a real car. :D
Sorry lx, I just can't resist a little ribbing of the blue oval bunch. ;)
Nocturn 03-15-2005, 11:02 PM Well the weight difference is more close to 700-900 LBS according to edmunds, the LX weighed in at 2800-2900 LBS.
Orbit Orange 03-15-2005, 11:44 PM OOPS!!!
Sometimes I really wish our Goats were 300 to 400 or so pounds lighter but I think I wouldn't enjoy the well put together feel of my car then. (OO imagining potholes and frostheaves wreaking havoc on his car causing all sorts of body squeeks and rattles.)
That could explain it possibly. I still have some reservations though. 325 HP in a 3000 pound car is a pretty potent combo though. I'd sure love to give it a shot though. :D
lxpony 03-16-2005, 12:59 PM Wow I guess I can figure out who the inteeligent ones are and who the 17 year olds are. Jizzer, I was looking for info on the GTO, when I came across this site. I don't think I find to much useful info on the mustang here. A whole lot of bashing but hey I can handle that. And you can be sure I wouldn't find to much info about the GTO on a mustang site if you find one let me know I'd be glad to go there. No the car has not been on a dyno, I'm making a fairly educated guess as to what the engine is putting out. It could be lower, it could be higher (Doubt it) I could always wish. Anyways 325hp on this car is nothing I've seen some at car shows and other websites with dyno sheets closer to 400 and some over 400. That's with higher end mods but, I'd be doing them if I could afford them. The guy didn't stop because we were going 120, and if you can remember all the speeds you were going at specific times during a run, you must have a seat cam pointing down at your dash. **** you have it good. I really couldn't tell you if it was an 05, I couldn't tell you the differance between the two. But from what I've seen on the site I probably would have had a rough time with an 05. Well I can see that I'm really not wanted here, guess by Jizzers comments I won't be able to play nice. Thanks for the info cool site.
st8gunner 03-16-2005, 03:02 PM you hurt his feelings, Jizzer!
For shame....

True but they only made 210hp or so stock. Saying an intake and underdrive pulleys will add over 100 is quite optimistic. In stock form they tended to run in the high/mid 14s. Yes 325 is nothing for the car, many at the strip are 600+hp but they are heavily modded.
Orbit Orange 03-16-2005, 08:19 PM He's got a little bit more than intake and pulleys. I see headers, chipped and exhaust too.
It's possible.
I still think the GTO guy let off though before 120. I've done the same before myself. Letting off before speeds got too high. But hey I wasn't there. I'm done overanalyzing it though, guess I'll just have to go out and find a 5 point Slow ;) to play with.
Couldn't resist, I know there are tons of 5.0's out there that could hand me a sound whoopin'.
:P
highrevR6 03-29-2005, 10:47 PM I hate to get into this thread since I'm new here also. The only reason I had to respond is because I also have a stang. Like Forestdweller said, I don't think that he would be around 325 rwhp. With the mods he has he prob has about 250ish or so. I read mags were the dyno for stock 5.0's are something like 180hp. Sorry Lxpony but I think he could have beaten you. I like mustangs also but I have to give it up to the GTO's they are sweet.
Just to let everybody know I know the difference between the 05 and 04 :D . I have been wanting one since I say a review on car and driver long ago when they were talking about the Holden version. Even though I know care less for car and driver thinks about the GTO know. If I play my cards right, I might have one by end of the year.

Thats what we like to hear, forget the mags and go drive one.
You'll love it.
gtoN8 03-30-2005, 11:11 PM 325 HP??? HAHAHA!! Are you 16,17,18 years old? My buddy had an LX notchback in high school and he had more mods than you and it only dynoed at 230HP at the rear wheels! Those 5.0 only made 225 at the crank stock! That goat was not racing you, from a dead stop, or a roll he would have walked you. The LX notch is a pretty light car, but your HP is no where near 325... :bs:
Nocturn 03-31-2005, 12:16 AM Lets not turn this into a flame war or Ill lock it no one gets to have any fun.

They have all right to "bash" you. You obviously came on the site to pick a fight and to mess around. Not only is getting 325rwhp out of one of those horribly difficult, it is obvious you are lying. Hell I doubt you even came across a GTO.
edit: sorry, noc.

Yeah I know it's Impossible to get anything more than 6 cylinder power out of the 5.0. I had to get this done, I was wrong sorry not 325 325.1. I've got a buddy who has a 93 Convertible, It does have a blower, But he's putting out 425 hp. Again Nothing I can say will be right here anyway. I hope the retro Camaro comes back and takes out the poor goat. Stock ponys are giving up 225hp for this year, 180ish, you must be looking at a dyno for a **** 6 banger. But at leats know I know the truth cuz the GTO guys say that ther's no way for a mustng to put out more than 250 hp. Whatever
By the way the clutch was slipping hence the sudden drop off
Nocturn 04-01-2005, 03:58 PM Must....resist.....urge....to close thread...
lxpony 04-01-2005, 04:24 PM Don't close it Noc. That would'nt be any fun. I really don't want to start any "S". I really don't. I know it wasn't the right way to come on to the site. I admit I'm an A&&. My point is just these things can and do happen. It's not hard to put 400 to 500 horse in one of these cars, it's not hard to put 600+ in a newer model. But everyone here says no that can;t be done. I'm sorry it can be done. Just like I'm **** sure it could and may have already been done with a GTO. Besides you guys are having way to much fun bashing the stang, So don't close it. Well now you probably will cuz I asked you not to. **** mustang guy.

If you don't understand the difference between power at the wheels vs flywheel than your post becomes all the more questionable.
225 hp equates to ~180 RWHP, which is indeed a typical dyno number for 5.0 fox mustangs
BTW, there was no V6. The other choice was a 4cyl.... :drevil:
Nocturn 04-01-2005, 06:38 PM If we can keep this civilized then I wont.
Were not saying you CANT get that much power out of a 5.0. Hell the 5.0 has the alrgest aftermarket of any car ever made, but they were simply saying that with your current mods its unlikely.
Going back and looking at them I thinks its reasonable, although I dont see what advantage you would get with the av gas if your not running forced induction.

RWHP was not specified under the 180 see it says 180hp above and on the original post I was assuming he was talking in general. When I was saying that he must have been looking at a 6 I meant in general as well. I'll make sure I 'm more exact in my following posts.

Wow, this is just too obvious now. How can someone who claims to have had a car dynoed not know that the dyno measures RWHP?
Oh well why do I bother...
faultyscarab 04-04-2005, 06:26 AM Are you from Long Island lxpony?? I have a 2004 Civic Si turbo pushing 325hp to my front wheel if you'd like to be embarrassed.
I asked if your from the island because I used to own an 03 Mustang Gt and that dyno sheet is from Mustang magic in Deer Park
torridredaccd 04-04-2005, 03:10 PM Am I the only one that feels this post is officially trolled.
Nocturn 04-04-2005, 08:12 PM Well...yes and no. LX seems to have ...grown up and isnt trolling anymore, but the post in itself is a troll post. But the question that remains is should I close and dispose of a thread that gets a good amount of replies?
